:rant; as some of you know april and i are downsizing. moving from a 5 bedroom house in centennial colorado to a small (very small) 3 bedroom home in castle rock. a small town on the extreme southern end of the denver metro area on the way to colorado springs. i can hardly wait, however i really, really, really wish i could just sit back and watch someone else do it for me. we've only been in this house 3 years and you wouldn't believe the amount of junk we have accumulated. my shredder is working overtime. of course i have to confess that some of it wasn't unpacked from the last move, just packed in storage. i guess i really don't need any of it. i'm exhausted by just think about it, not to mention the packing. i haven't slept so good in ages, not to mention all the sneezing from dust. back to the boxes, thanks for letting me rant.
:rant; :rant; :rant; :rant; :rant; :rant;

I hate moving too... Geesh. Make sure to take not only physical breaks from packing but also mental ones! It helps you not feel so stressed and overwhelmed :)
-
Next time we move I am leaving everything here except the computer and personal pics and clothes. Anyone want a house full of junk?
-
:rofl; :rofl; :rofl; oh how i wish.
-
I am going to have to move within the year and I am dreading it. I am told this however, if you can afford it...HIRE MOVERS!!!
Sure you still have to pack quite a few things...but the moving of the actual stuff is left to them, and it is one of those costs ($200-500) that you won't regret. Most companies will do things such as take apart and put back together beds and pretty much put whatever you want, wherever you want it.
Well, outside of that good luck.

It will feel so good when it is done! Don't overwork yourself---that is why we have children!
-
I hate moving also. A lot of work in a short period of time. :grouphug;
-
I haven't moved in 23 years!!! When I do I know there is going to be a lot of work!!! A house and 3 sheds full of stuff!! I think a lot will be sold or gone to the garbage dump!! I'll probably find things that I have lost and even forgotten I owned!!!

we do have someone coming with a truck and 3 men to do the actual move, the furniture and all the boxes i am now packing. packing is what i hate, i'm exhausted!!!!!! i'm considering dynamite. my daughter says leaving everything behind and buying all new is not an option.

I had boxes from my move from California back to Wisconsin in the garage attic and basement cabinets for over 6 years that where never opened. I didn't even look had them all tossed. Didn't need what ever was in them so why keep them...Boxman
-
I won't be asking boxman to help me pack, or unpack.. he will throw stuff away without looking what it is! :P
-
The only advantage to moving is that it helps you get rid of stuff. I have stuff I don't need. Come get some stuff!
-
i don't want any more stuff. i have enough stuff, what i need is a dumpster. i have boxes in the garage that haven't seen the light of day for three years, and i'm going through each and every one of them in the next two weeks. boxman i agree with you i don't need the stuff, but i'm looking before i through it away.
-
ah ah ah if you look you will keep. after 3 years who cares what it is, just close your eyes and toss it...Boxman
-
I agree with boxman if you haven't used it in 3 years you don't need it!!! I go through my closet about once a year. If I haven't worn something in a long time it is gone!!! I figure somebody else might like it better than me and wear it!!
-
Boxman you probably threw out Mama's valuable silver and china and just don't know it.
-
I am jealous!!!! Some of my very best friends live in Castle Rock!! If you ever need a great chiropractor, look up Dr. Joel Kinch of Well Within Chiropractic. They are awesome people!!! Good luck with the move...

I was told years ago that one moving is equal to three hurricanes and an earthquake! I can't stand it, but I love being in a new place! We just moved into a bigger apartment (still one bedroom but much more comfortable with a view to die for). we are in the same compound with the same landlady. we love it. There was not much moving since we moved from a furnished apartment to a furnished apartment - just our personal stuff had to move. My daughter did the most of it two weeks ago when I was spending a weekend in St.Thomas (lovely girl, isn't she!)

Mom would not of trusted me with the plastic dinnerware ;D ...Boxman

i just made things a bit easier on us. 1-800-got junk is coming next week to haul away the corner unit in my room. i point they take. what could be easier than that. this is something that can't be donated and we'd have to rent a truck to haul it to the dump. they will also give us a price for taking some other stuff that can be donated. (with arc or salvation army you have to have the stuff on the curb) i'm willing to pay to have 2 guys come in and haul it off. i'm beginning to feel a bit better.

moving day
HELLLLLLLLLLLLLP!
-
I would if I could help you. Good luck and do not lose too many precious things.

i'm surrounded by boxes (at least the garage is full) the truck arrived empty at 3:30pm a large semi the one we were scheduled to get broke down. it left our new place (empty) at 9:00pm YUCK what an exhausting day. after we got some dinner, we realized while the beds were up at the new place all blankets, sheets and towels were either in boxes in the garage (who knew where) or at the old house ready to be brought by car but we were too tired to go back and get them. (had planned but didn't know it would be so late) the dogs had to come in the first trip) so off to a friends in town to borrow blankets and towels. we felt like a pillar of dirt and had to shower before bed. oh joy! the shower head is one of those "rain" type shower heads. i have to get the garage cleaned out so we can put the car in the garage before the first snow. any bets.

I bet $10 you will have snow first :rofl;
-
I hope your move goes well! I used 1-800-got-junk before I moved last fall, too. It was great & I'd use them again in a heartbeat! They told me they don't just take everything to the dump. They dig through it first to recycle and donate anything they can. That made me feel better about getting rid of stuff.
