As I type this, I have about 35min to go in my LAST hemo treatment. I completed my PD training today, I have one last day off tomorrow, and I start my CAPD exchanges on Friday. I'm so excited, but at the same time, I'm going to miss my little NxStage. Once I go a few days without needles, without blood, without being tied to a machine which, although portable, is still a pain in the bum to travel with, I think I will never want to look back. Now all I have to do is wait for my doctor to order my PET test so maybe I can get the cycler. I'm actually not in too big of a hurry for that, because I want to be stable on CAPD before I dive into learning the cycler. My nurse said that my PET will most likely be in two or three months. I figured my doc would want it sooner so the efficiency of my peritoneum could be known as soon as possible. Right now I'll be starting out with four exchanges per day, with four hour dwells. Well, I better start getting ready to get off my NxStage for what should be the last time.
