Just wanted to be the first to wish everyone a happy 4th of July weekend.
Hope the weather is good and everyone just has a good relaxing time.

Happy July 4th to you.
I am going to look for fireworks in the evening of July 4th. They are illegal in this County (Santa Cruz, CA), due to all of the forest fires going on right now.
But if I go to the coast where the beach is, there are always people putting on illegal firework shows. We get quite a firework show on the beach.

I'm going into seclusion and hope everyone forgets about me.

I live in Tennessee. You could probably shoot off some Serious, Goverment Issued, Weapons, in Your Front Lawn on the Fourth of July and Your
Neighbors, would be saying........... " OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOhhhhhhhhh, AAAHHHHHHHHHHHH " I'm Joking. Really I am. Really. Sorry.
Let's not forget, Our Military, who keeps this Day of Freedom, for us, just that, Freedom.

Tennessee has good fireworks, so does Indiana. People in Kentucky go to one or the other. About all you can buy legally here is stuff like sparklers. I want the M-80's and bottle rockets.

I am up in Northern CA for the 4th. A wild weekend. On the fourth we are going on a chocolate walk and then a ghost walk in the evening.

We start a day early in our family. The 3rd is Mellissa's birthday (born one day before the bi-centenial) . A lake near here has a huge celebration on the 3rd. Large game area for the kids. Everyone brings picnics and there are bands playing all evening. Every type of band- bluegrass, country, military, rock. Then at 8 the North Carolina Symphany has a concert. At this point we are all full, tired and enjoying just sitting listening to the Symphany. Then, as they end with patriotic songs, the fireworks begin. Nothing compares to seeing fireworks through the little ones eyes. The whole family will be there (except AlohaBeth :'() --about 20 of us this year. Melissa loves having such a great party every year for her birthday--- :secret;don't let her know it is the country's birthday!! Then on the 4th, everyone can go to be with in-laws or friends to other parties. I love the 4th. It is good to take one day each year to remember how good our lives really are (even with gas prices, etc.) Proud to be an American----no, I am not going to break into a song :rofl; :usaflag; :usaflag; :usaflag; :usaflag; :usaflag;

My grandmother's grandfather fought for the Union in the Civil War, and the 4th of July was a big celebration in their family. Their whole house was decorated with flags, and they'd bring long tables out under the trees and serve a big supper for family and friends. Since July 5th was my grandmother's birthday, she always felt special having this big gathering (in her honor it seemed) and so Independence Day had a important significance for her. I always loved that story, and I put flags out every year too!

I'm all for the 4th of july celebration but I wish all these people in the neighborhood would do their thing on the 4th and then put their noise makers away til next year. Drives my Dog crazy. The 4th around here goes from last week in June until middle of August. It really drives me up a wall when I try to sleep, 5am comes pretty fast.
-
I know what you mean, Sluff. I've been hearing them every night for about 2 weeks.
-
I hope everyone has a good fourth though.
-
I agree. I have to get the benadril out for Sad Sack and Yogi
they sweat bullets with all the noise
:o

have a happy 4th i will :beer1;

Possession of fireworks is illegal here, due toi danger of brush fires, but people used to sneak them occasionally. For the last few years it's gotten less and less, so the only noise is the big overhead fireworks display at the Rose Bowl (which is incredible!)
-
happy birthday my american friends,enjoy the company of family and friends, eat well,drink even more, misbehaviour for 2 weekends a year will tolerated(should'nt hurt the fluid restrictions and diet too much.

I am with everyone that says put off you fireworks on the fourth and be done. It really spooks the wild life and they end up in my yard. Foxes, deer, you name it we've seen it.
Enjoy the holiday! :clap;

Happy 4th of July weekend to everybody. I have to agree with everyone else though that you should wait till the 4th to let off the fireworks then once it's done wait again till next year. They have been letting them off for almost 2 weeks already in my neighborhood. Up until last weekend though it was just one or two here and there, now it's every night BOOM BOOM BOOM. Any firework worth having is illegal in Illinois so we get ours from Indiana like every other fun loving citizen. We don't go over bored with it and put on our own display with what looks like professional fireworks but just a couple of high flying things and then lots of fountains and firecrackers. I can't stress safety enough though. Fuses burn fast so light and run and just because it look like it is a dud doesn't mean it is. We always keep the garden hose nearby and on as a just in case emergency measure as well.
