Title: Question for those of you who have switched hospitals...
Post by: kellyt on June 03, 2008, 01:58:50 PM
If you switch transplant hospitals can you "re test" living donors that were "denied" by the hospital you're switching from?  Or do they just use the same testing info?   :thx;

Sorry to hear no one has replied yet. I couldn't have live donors due to te transplant I ended getting, but I did switch transplant hospitals. From my experience, the hospital took all new test, then went to Gift of Hope to have me listed at their hospital. I have an appointment with my transplant clinic in 2 weeks and if I can remember, I can ask the nurse or doctor on what they do.

We didn't retest any donors, but I would have tried if we ran out of options.

My second one wanted to their own testing.  Guess it depends on the center.  I would ask every center you can go to until you get the answer you want.
