Glad you found a place close to your parents. Good Luck !I hope it works for you. Two men and a truck are fairly reasonable if they are in your area. You can box everything up and they load the truck and unload it at the new place.

Kickstart, I am so glad for you!  This would be such a good move for you.  Wish I could hop over and help pack, but then again, that would be two of us with no energy and nothing would get packed!!   :rofl; :cuddle;

Kickstart, it is great to know that the council finally came through for you.  Hopefully the nightmare is soon over.

As far as moving goes, I move a lot and I am ruthless with sorting my things and only moving the items that I really use and like.  I donate everything that isn't an absolute necessity.  Like books, if they really are your favorite, then by all means move them, but if you have read them and sort of like them and they are taking up shelf space, why not give them away and let someone else read them?

I do the same with kitchen gadgets and clothing.  (right now, I am looking at four bin bags waiting to go off to the charity shop with sheets and clothing in them.)  If you haven't worn it in a year, well, that is a good indicator that it is just taking up space.

A new home is a chance to start fresh.

Also, if you can organise your supply delivery, you should be able to use as many pd supplies as possible and then have a whole inventory delivered to the new place.

I know that sentiment can make people cling to objects, but just because the object is gone, the memory still stays.

Moving is also a great time to replace things like pillows and mattress pads.  If the budget affords, it is always nice to buy some fresh things for the new house.

Best wishes on a wonderful move to a peaceful quiet new home,

Anna

:yahoo; Great news  :2thumbsup; As for moving, Meinuk has made some really good suggestions, the other suggestions I'd make is accept all the help you are offered; write on the boxes what is in them and only open the important ones on the first day and prepare a few dishes for the freezer so you have an easier start to life in your new home. Good luck, let us know when you have it confirmed and we can all PARTY!!!!!!! :clap;

That's great KS.  I second the suggestion to get all the help that's offered.  My philosophy about "stuff" is just like Meiuk's and I keep trying to hypnotize my pack-rat husband so I can unburden junk.  So far there's still too much junk but moving is good for sorting out things.
Nice that you'll be nearer your family.

Please don't take the advice lightly about marking each box carefully.   I am in a stew now because of wanted to finish everything quickly when I moved from my apartment.
Please keep us informed on how it goes.

I must admit im very good at not keeping junk ! Having started from scratch when my husband left me , i dont have years of stuff to sort out !! I have made a start on packing some stuff so as not to leave it all till last minute and i have marked all boxes with contents so i can unpack at my leisure . The only other thing i have to do is go to the money tree growing at the bottom of the garden and pick a whole load of it to cover everything !!!  :rofl; There is so much to do , both here and at the other place , its going to keep me busy for quite some time !!! Thanks for all your support and advice guys !!  :grouphug;

Just start recruiting everyone you know to help you move. We "pay" everyone who helps out with beer and pizza. Just tell them when you ask them to help, what their pay is. You'll get helpers! My husband and I have done this numerous times between the two of us over the years and it works every time! We've never had professional movers before. To move from Maryland to Ohio, we just rented a 20 foot rental truck for very little money. Maybe your family could help out with the cost of something like that. Maybe they could even help you move!
