Title: What are your Memorial Day weekend plans?
Post by: Deanne on May 22, 2008, 03:38:44 PM
I doubt I'll do anything exciting. I'm hoping to steam clean the carpets again, mow the lawn, pull some weeds, and meet friends for a walk and coffee.

We don't have a long weekend here (we did last weekend...Victoria Day after Queen Vicky).

This weekend I'm going to the cottage, and hope I have the energy to tidy the garden there up a bit.

We're going to my parent's cottage on the lake. Do some bluegill fishing, reading, golfing, help with some things that need to be done around the cottage. I love it there - it's a small lake and is very peaceful.

Then some of the following (depending what I talk my husband into):
See the Long board surfing competition in Santa Cruz to watch (no I don't surf),
See the Jazz Festival in Aptos Park,
or see the Watsonville Fly-In where they have vintage airplanes.
I will also dedicate time at 3 pm Monday to gives thanks to Veteran's of War

Marvin and I have the best of plans for Memorial Day -- no plans at all!  We're going to take it easy, lounge around the house, and enjoy each other's company!  Of course, we'll also take the time to remember what this day is for.  God bless America and all the men and women who have fought -- and continue to fight -- to keep Her free! :usaflag;

No hubby this weekend. He is off traveling.  I might go to the National Orange Show in San Berdoo. I might just stay home and relax for three days.

A little late, but I guess it's better than never!

I have to design and produce 2 books, do some website work for a client, design some logos for another client and study for a mid-term. And hopefully find some time to water my gardens with Miracle-Gro! They're 2 weeks overdue.

Well I went to bed at 7 am, got back up in 2 hours and started to clean out old papers in my files in my desk looking to see if I have a copy of my birth certificate. Nevr found that, nor do I remember having one at home. Just feel like I do and looked for it. For Monday, lots of paper shredding for the recycle bin, whoopee!

Marvin has changed our Memorial Day plans -- we were going to do.......NOTHING !

He did let me sleep late this morning -- almost 8 a.m.  Then, we got up, had breakfast, and watched a little tv.  He wanted his treatment this morning, so he's on the home hemo machine right now.  When he gets off, he wants lunch and then for me to help him work in the yard.  WORK IN THE YARD !!  I hate working in the yard (Marvin loves it).  I want to nap this afternoon.  I hope I don't fall asleep weed-eating.  I was sooooo looking forward to doing absolutely nothing today.  Shame on Marvin!

:waving; Well, Friday was our yard day, Saturday was cleaning and grocery shopping, yesterday we went to the Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron FOUR [VQ-4] "Shadows" reunion. It was fun to see people we hadn't seen in 25 years. Drank too much and got too much sun. Today, went to Memorial Service and parade on Patuxent River Naval Air Station and now I am getting ready to make shrimp and steak kabobs for the grill. My children and grandchildren are coming this afternoon and we are going to enjoy the afternoon and the hottub. No drinking for me today, still have some in my system from yesterday. God bless our service members and their families.  :cuddle;

No Memorial day here, but on Saturday I go to see my daughter do the 600metre swim section of a triathalon.  Her office divided up the three sections = her boss is doing the cycling and another person is doing the run.  The guy at their office who signed them up is doing the whole thing himself.  He is always teasing my daughter saying 'Pain is temporary; pride is eternal" or something like that.  She has been practicing.  It should be even easier on Saturday since she has been training in a pool and on Saturday it will be the sea,which is more buoyant,

It was a nice day here.  Melissa and her little ones went camping for the weekend. Todd and family invited us over for a cook out.  Beth, of course is in Yosemite. And Adam was in San Fransisco for the weekend and then drove to Yosemite to spend two days with Beth and to share the news that he is engaged!  So, Beth was the first one to see the ring and share the day with Adam and Carrie Ann.  He had told my husband and I before he went to S.F. that he was going to propose to her.  I have been waiting all weekend for him to call.  He called a couple of hours ago, filled with so much happiness and joy.

And at 3pm, we paused for a moment of silence to remember all that gave their lives so we may be free. :usaflag; :usaflag; :usaflag; :usaflag;
