After 3 1/2 years I got the call Monday May 5 from the Albany Medical College and was transplanted Monday nite! Everything went well, and I came home Saturday the 10th.
Followup with clinic visits every Tuesday, blood draws monday, wednesday, fridays. Its kind of an odd feeling not hooking up to my NXstage everyday, and when I had my first banana this week I felt guilty. But its all good, and I look forward to the next stage of my life!

Congratulations and I hope you have many, many healthy years with your new kidney. Also do not feel guilty about food. Enjoy all the high potassium and high phosphorus foods that you were denied before.

I know that feeling about being uncomfortable varying the renal diet after a transplant. I have had a functioning transplant for three years now and I have continued to remain on the same salt-free diet I had as a dialysis patient. For a long time after my transplant I felt uneasy staying home two days in a row, subconsciously assuming I still had to be at the dialysis clinic every other day.

So glad we can add you to our list.
Please, as someone asked earlier, give us a full account (blow by blow) of your experience. This is the way we at IHD can help each other. Even though everyone's experience is obviously not the same, hearing what another person went through can be very helpful.
CONGRATS!!!!!
