Here's one more Canadian (BC). My daughter had her pd catheter last week, starting training on may 11th.
She had her first session yesterday because she was in so much pain, and the neph thought it could be because of dry belly.
How long have you been on pd?
Hugs, Ulrika

I think her creatinin level is around 360 right now. If you read my introduction, I explain about how and when she was diagnosed. There has hardly been any time to adjust to her kidney failure, before starting the whole dialysis process.....fistula, pd catheter, and not to speak of all the new meds. and diet.

From New Brunswick. God bless medicare. My creantinin is aprox 700 going on dialysis and about 250 coming off. Doing home hemo 3 times a week for four hours. Lived most of my life with creatinin over 250-300 last fifteen years , only on dialysis last three years but doctors were amazed I function so well considering I was hitiing 800 when we started dialysis.

Yes, we received Jamie's obituary online.  He was a troubled young man and seemed to do everything to welcome problems.  But, that is a choice we all have.

What the heck do you Canadians measure creatinine with?  Our normal is .5 to 1.5 and a high creatinine on dialysis is 15 - 20??

In the states creatinine is measured in: mg/dL
In Canada and Europe its measured in μmol/liter
(1 mg/dL of creatinine is 88.4 μmol/l)

Hi Len;
Where on Vanc. Island are you? We are in Nanaimo. My daughter started pd 2 weeks ago. Who is your neph? I've created a website that you might want to look at. As we are in the same area, you may have a lot of info, and input. We have so many questions, that only those who are going through the same thing can answer. Not least, the financial part. We are starting to realise that that, as well as many other things are going to be an uphill battle.

I am from Ontario as well and infact from the same exact unit that Jaime was in. His last magic show for the Kidney Foundation of Canada (Windsor Division) he made my neice an honorary magician.

Now I am at the "self Care" unit where they .. supposedly .. teach you how to set up your own machine .. but they are understaffed and it looks like it will be awhile .. :(
