I found this site while surfing around for more information on dialysis and became hooked instantly with the vast amount of information and personal experiences.
I myself am not on dialysis but my wife has been for for almost a year now due to end stage renal failure brought on from a strain of vasculitis. She initially started on PD but it was not effective and she eventually moved onto hemodialysis. It has been a difficult time but we are adjusting to it and try not to let it run our lives and keep us from doing the things we enjoy.
I'm looking forward to spending more time on here and taking in as much information as I can and hopefully sharing our experiences and helping others out where possible.

Since you asked I go by Uniballer because I had a problem that required half of each testicle removed; so instead of whine and complain about it i thought i would use some humour. And since two halves make a whole the rest is history.
(and I thought it would make a cool superhero name :) )

monrein you know what that means we are two of a kind who spend too much time on the naked men thread
have you seen the cowboy? I've heard things are bigger in Texas but..... gee whiz ?

Thanks for the explanation Uni. Cool that you're out there with that. Everyboby here is either missing parts or has extras of some.
BTW I'm from Toronto.

It's alway cool to see someone on the net from the same area, I have to drive through TO rush hour every Friday to get home to spend the weekend with my wife in Kingston.
My wife and I have the same outlook on ailments and problems- look on the good side of things and try to have fun with it when possible, she goes a little farther than I would though while on the machine by torturing the staff and the other patients, but it makes the time go by faster and cheers the room up so i guess it is ok. :bandance;
-
I totally agree with that approach. May as well make the best of it.
Toronto Friday rush hour is a nasty nasty thing. We fight it on the way to the cottage and it's brutal.

:waving; Hi Uniballer,
What a relief, all I could think of was the unibomber. I am so glad you could join us here - there are lots of patients and caregivers and we tend to have lots of fun. But there's also a good chance to learn new things here too, so read the threads and post if you'd like. Welcome to you and the missus!

Glad you're here, UB. I've learned a ton here -- this is a great site with great people. And humor is always appreciated, so it looks like you're going to fit right in! :welcomesign;

I guess if we had to choose from the Uniballer or the unibomber I would have to pick the Uniballer. Welcome to Ihatedialysis.com.
I hope you keep enjoying your visits here and I hope you have a little fun while you are here also. We have a IHD story, an IHD 3 word story, a wish granting thread and just a lot of fun stuff besides Dialysis talk. Maybe your wife could join in as well. Keep reading and post as often as you like.

:welcomesign; UNIBALLER. This is the best site for information and support. There are a lot of caregivers here too. I am the caregiver to my husband. Read up and ask questions. If you need a good rant every now and then, we are here. Nice to meet you. :cuddle;

Welcome to our community. I can see from your attitude that you were an IHD person even before you joined. we are so glad you decided to join our wonderful, caring, sharing, supporting,(crazy) family. I also am very gratified whenever a family member or loved one joins because of their concern for someone else. that is wonderful and as you were told already, we even have a section where you can express your particular challenges with like-minded individuals. there is lots of information on this site. Excuse the brag, but the guy who started this site is no longer with us so I have to do it for him! We are the foremost dialysis forum on the internet after just 2 3/4 years. So you have lots to read. Read, yes, but post too. We need to hear from you. You're family. :grouphug;
