Title: New to here
Post by: AmyK3 on May 06, 2008, 10:59:13 AM
Hmmmm where do I start....First of all I am 49 (at least for a few more months). I am married and live in New Jersey for now....we are in the process of moving to Georgia.

I must say from the beginning and my husband Frank is my ROCK and I don't think I would have been able to get through this whole think without him!!

In January 2006 my doctor told me I should look into getting on the kidney transplant list. At the time I was not on dialysis. While doing the start-up testing (one of them being a mammogram) they found a lump in my left breast(not scheduled for that test for another 8 months).

Went in the hospital February 2006 for them to do a lumpectomy and do my fistula surgery, 17 days later I came out of the hospital. The surgeon said my number where to high to do the surgery, and instead inserted a Udol catheter. The catheter became infected almost immediately and had to be removed.

March 1, 2006 while still in the hospital they were able to finally do the lumpectpomy and fistula and tesso catheter surgeries.

I was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancerand started chemotherapy in July 2006, following up with radiation September 2006. Now cancer free for 2 years!!!

My tesso catheter got infected on October 2006, with the infection going to my back and causing a fracture between t8 & T9.

Dialysis at times is a real b*tch, but life does go on, even if it means 4 hours and day three times a week.
Well for now that is my story.....off to read about yours!
