I try to not to entertain negative thoughts because I believe in the law of attraction.  Reading the book titled: The Secret. It's not easy to change old habits but I'm trying.

I knock wood, throw salt over my shoulder and bless sneezes. My grandma said you always need to leave a house through the same door you entered in - not sure why but her superstition sticks in my head!

I eat everything but I REFUSE to eat kidneys as in  steak and kidney pie so don't bother telling me how "nice" it can be.  I don't eat kidneys and I ordered them once, by mistake, in France and just couldn't do it.  Silly but true.

I say knock on wood frequently but not as a superstition.  I actually knock on my head when I say it more as a joke than anything.  I figure it's about as thick as a block of wood some days though.

My Mother in Law says the same thing!

My grandma said it was bad luck if you left a house through a different door.  I'm not sure about this, but I always do it.

Yes, I'm quite superstitious in my life...but, I don't know if it's really superstition or just my routines (putting the right sock on, then the left, then the right shoe, then the left -- and stuff like that).  When Marvin and I set up for his home hemo treatments, we always do the process in a particular order, and we always put his supplies in a particular place on his chair-side table (band-aids down first, two gauze on top of them, bedadine in the front corner, needles in the middle of the table, etc.).  This way, we can take a quick glance at the table and see if anything's missing.  We're creatures of habit.

To open an umbrella in the house is to bring bad luck
Cold hands, warm heart
It is bad luck to light three cigarettes with the same match
It's good luck to find a four-leaf clover
It is bad luck to kill a ladybug

I didn't realize I had these superstitions and old wives tales in my head!

I always worry bad things come in threes.
So when two bad things happen to me, I always start stressing about when the 3rd one is going to hit.

Never walk under a ladder,   If you knock one elbow always knock the other,  If you see one magpie, unlucky you must see two,  Never ever cross someone on the stairs,
If you break a mirror, seven years bad luck,  If you see an ambulance, hold your color and never swallow until you see a dog. :urcrazy;

I know it is just a superstition but I cannot bring myself to do it

I make an effort not to be superstitious, so I purposely do the things that I am not supposed to do - like open an umbrella in the house, put my bag on the floor (bag on the floor, you will always be poor).
In Barbados, if you sleep with your nightie on the wrong side,  they say that you slept with a duppy (ghost).  I went to live in Antigua and there they say that you must sleep with your nightie on the wrong side to keep away jumbies (ghosts)!!!
It was in Antigua that I first heard about leaving a house through the same door.  I had gone downstairs in my dad's office.  I walked out the door and there was a girl from the village.  we played about and then she came in my dad's office with me.  Then we went upstairs and she spent nearly an entire day with me.  We ended up at the front door when she was ready to leave. I opened the door and she was horrified.  She had to go back downstairs to the office and leave through that door.  She said it would 'tie' her otherwise!

If I spill salt, I throw it over my shoulder.
I won't walk under ladders.
I say Bless You to a sneeze.
I used to avoid black cats.
I knock on wood.
I have a lucky Buddha in my car lol.

OK, I am a freak, I'll share...

I won't have birds or pictures of birds inside my home.

I keep a small mirror on a windowsill.  (Chinese superstition - evil won't come in because it will see its self and be scared off)

I can't sleep if there are dirty dishes in the sink.

I refuse to wear black to a wedding.

If I am going to be really late for something, I don't go at all.

Because they are watching me put the fries in order from largest to smallest and I get self conscious about it.

potatoes are very high in potassium and potassium is not processed  when you are a dialysis patient and if to much is had it can cause heart failure. Hope that is why you where asking...Boxman

oh Kitkatz knows all that health stuff and she still eats her fries in order of shortest to longest
she can not eat if anyone starts watching her
she stops not due to potassium but
due to she is weird in this way
but being weird is a wonderful quality and she should be proud
