IHD had well over 2,000 posts last week http://www.billpeckham.com/from_the_sharp_end_of_the/dialysis_ckd_discussion_board_report/index.html
In fact IHD is busier than all other CKD boards combined! I know if Epoman was around he'd be braggin' so I think we can do it for him. It's also looking like IHD will have 2,000 members sometime next month.
-
Thanks for sharing that with us! Mixed emotions for me - proud of IHD, but so sorry Epoman is not here to enjoy what he dedicated his time and effort for! If he would have been bragging! Who would have been able to shut him up!!!
-
I know Epoman is smiling and bragging about what he started to anyone who will listen to him. I bet he is known as that IHD guy!
-
Thanks Bill. I know Epoman would be proud.
-
:2thumbsup;
-
we also should change our numbers stated on the opening page:
"we know have over 119,020 + posts, in 7859 + topics, and 1825+ members"
-
:thumbup; Go IHD!! Wooo Hoooo! :bandance;
-
Wow, that is great!
Epo would be braggin'. He has done a great thing here.
This website is by far THE BEST dialysis website.
The members here are THE BEST also.
-
Congrats to IHD!
:beer1;

You got that right!!!!!
-
Thank you to everyone who makes this site possible.
There are many times when I feel down, sometimes in tears... and I log on to IHD and feel better. I know that I am not alone and there are caring people who understand.
-
Yay for IHD and all who make it what it is.
-
With 2,000 posts/week and 2,000 members, I'm not sure he'd have time to brag!! So we'd just have to do it for him, way to go IHD!! :beer1;
-
:2thumbsup; :yahoo;
Thank you Epoman, I know you ARE very proud of everyone for keeping the site running and hoppin' busy, your still our hero. :grouphug; :cuddle;

Yep, we hit 2,000 members on May 28 http://ihatedialysis.com/forum/index.php?topic=8539.0
May was a busy month! 10,756 new posts! And a record breaking 516,216 hits!

Alot has changed since I first started lurking around in here in 2006... many (to many) people have come and gone... I hope from the bottom of my heart that Epoman understands what a gift he gave me in having a place to vent, smile and laugh, a place that every person can relate to what I have to deal with on a day to day basis.
I have no idea what or how I would have coped without this site... and thanks to Bill, I won't need to
Miss you boss
Kim :'(

My goodness we're a chatty bunch.
This weeks discussion board report shows IHD had nearly 3,000 posts and nearly 300 new threads!!
http://www.billpeckham.com/from_the_sharp_end_of_the/2008/06/dialysis-ckd--2.html
How many reckon they read all the posts? I can't keep up for sure.
-
I agree, Bill but I see so many new members who never post. I guess a lot of people are curious but don't want to get involved.
-
It would be interesting to know more about the members who have rarely if ever posted. I don't think we can know if they visit the board but don't log in or have they forgotten their information. Of course some move on or pass on. Some may see their renal condition improve so that they're not thinking about it and some may simply feel too sick or disheartened to post. Like I said it would be interesting to know more.
In general I see joining as a vote of appreciation so it may be that renal professionals join after reading to try to "understand" us and find that there is a lot of value in reading the posts. They might not think they should post (I dispute that) but join as a way to show their appreciation at being let in on the conversation.
If you've been following the Discussion Board Reports on my blog you've noticed there is another outlier board - the DaVIta Board. They have by far the most members - over 6,000 - but they are also among the least active with just 8 new threads. Not even a thread per a new member. Curious.
-
Bill, I have wondered the same thing. I see there are so many members and guest but the same members are the ones that post. Just my :twocents;
-
I also post on the Davita board but, like you said, there are only about 10-12 members who actively post and most of them are also active members here also.
-
I think something we forget is that some people join to learn about a condition and then sometimes we don't hear from them for a year and all of a sudden they are back and active. Message boards are tools for the most part. If you don't need a hammer you leave it in the tool box until you need it, right? Same with the message boards. If they become active and really get to know others than they become more like friends. My motto as humans is "we give what we receive". Our nature is to help others. Some people just can't relate a friendship and a keyboard. Then all of a sudden they receive some understanding or some information and they feel connected. Just my view.
-
I joined about a year before I posted, I wasn't on dialysis yet and didn't think that the board was for me, I played bubble shooter till my fingers were going to fall off...
Then I started dialysis, and slowly started posting, and since I started PD is when I have had the time to post more.
-
I needed time to discover how the boards ran. I even took notes about where people lived, on dialysis, tranplant, etc. It helped me "know" members a little before I really jumped in. I still keep notes--who is having a hard time, who needs extra prayers, those who are waiting for transplants. Too many years teaching---I always make lists!!
Sluff, your explanation was very good. Years ago, I would not equate friendship with the internet. But, now I can write my feelings much better than I can speak them. The keyboard is my voice :thumbup;
-
That was good Sluff but your post poses a question: If IHD were a tool which tool would it be and why? I say a Swiss Army knife - over 20 tools in one!

Hey Bill, I was at RSN today - did u talk to someone while I was there?
No I haven't talked to anyone at RSN today - maybe my name came up (were there curse words involved?) because my blog is getting a lot of traffic because RenalWEB linked to my post about my concerns about pending legislation.

I'll donate two never used (Davita bags - a carry all and a cooler bag. (Epoman would have loved adding them to his collection!)

Why I Love Coming To IHD
By Chris
Chapter 1
It was a fall winter day as I sat outside listening to the birds chirp and watching the sun settle as it gleamed off the lake in my luxurious backyard on the lake. I started to ponder about what has happened through my life, wondering about the choices I made, the way I was brought up, and what would I change if I could. As I was thinking, I was skipping stones across the lake and watching the ripple effect across the water as it skipped across. As I watched this ripple effect I started to think if I made changes in the past, how much would it effect my future. After all the pondering I was doing, I did not notice that nightfall had taken place. I headed inside wit thoughts of loking for some answers to my life and wondering how many others have had gone through a similar experience. I turned my laptop on, went for some coffee, came back still waiting for computer to warm up. I then did a quick turn of the computer since it was hanging up again wonder if I should bash it against the wall not once, not twice, but maybe three times to get my frustration out of this problematic laptop. I digress and press thye ON button once more with no USB connections attached. It boots up finally and I beging to search for answers.......................................
-
:cheer: yay chris! 246 words including your title done... Only 199,654 words to go. I'll add some adjectives and adverbs in red for you..cause I just like helping! :clap;
Why I Love Coming To IHD

Chapter 1
It was a cold, blustery, fall winter day as I sat outside listening to the birds chirp and watching the bright golden yellow sun settle as it gleamed off the clear lake in my luxurious backyard on the lake. I started to ponder about what has happened through my life, wondering about the choices I made, the way I was brought up, and what would I change if I could. As I was thinking, I was skipping small stones across the lake and watching the ripple effect across the water as it skipped across. As I watched this ripple effect I started to think if I made changes in the past, how much would it effect my future. After all the pondering I was doing, I did not notice that nightfall had taken place. I headed inside wit thoughts of loking for some answers to my life and wondering how many others have had gone through a similar experience. I turned my laptop on, went for some hazelnut flavoredcoffee, came back still waiting for computer to warm up.

Thank God it will all be over in about 28 hours!! Whew!
I would like to add a $25 gift card to your favorite restaurant to the kitty. Please PM me with your info so I can drop that in the mail this weekend.
I want to thank ALL of you for making IHD what it is today. We are truly blessed to have such terrific people keeping Epoman's dream alive. I KNOW he would be proud and also KNOW that he would be bragging like crazy!

Days like this I wish I would remember the writing styles of Ernest Hemingway. I'll add more once I have full control of my minds attention span after I finish working on my laptop.

How's that essay coming Chris? :rofl;
-
Nowhere.
After all that time last night thru today of writing files to a DVD, a message comes up after 4 pm saying that there was an error.
So, I just transferred some files to the external hard drive in hopes to write them later to a CD or DVD. I will loose some programs, but at this point I don't care. New hard drive will be put in tomorrow, well now today. I will be off line for a couple days starting later today since it is 1:01 AM.

Chris I am way behind in sending your prizes to Kitkatz - if you PM me your address I'll do it directly or I promise to get them off to Kit this week.
This weeks Discussion Board Report (http://www.billpeckham.com/from_the_sharp_end_of_the/2009/01/-dialysis-ckd-discussion-board-report-for-118.html) has a numerical oddity: IHD has as many post as DaVita has members.
Epoman is grinning.
-
wow, I didn't even know about most of those other sites!
