UK's oldest Kidney donor celebrates

Britain's oldest and most unlikely kidney donor is recovering at home on his 72nd birthday.

After years of having to watch his wife's health deteriorate, Bill Armstrong was able to offer a kidney to her having previously thought he was a different blood group.

The transplant took place last week and the couple have just been allowed home.

Norma Armstrong said: "It's meant a great deal to me. It's given me my life back. I feel much freer."

Husband Bill explained: "We were under the impression we had different blood groups but we found out last year we were the same.

"I feel reasonably well - 72 today!"
