Randy is scheduled for a colonoscopy on Thursday. He's been having trouble with his numbers and I was wondering if anyone knows if there is any danger with this procedure because of this. Should he have his blood checked prior to the procedure?

I would check with the doctor that is dong the colonoscopy. Tell him about the numbers and see if he would like some additional labs before Thursday. I had some bruising problems a few weeks before I had mine done. He asked for additional labs. Good Luck to Randy.

Thanks Romona. I'm calling the neph tomorrow and the GI, too.

update: I'm glad I called the GI AND the neph...had a little :boxing; with the GI because he said blood work was not necessary...but the neph was appalled that he had not ordered it. Go figure. But the most important thing is that the GI had prescribed the "cleansing" meds (the nasty stuff you have to drink) back in Dec. and it's dangerous now for Randy to drink that stuff. So he's getting new stuff now. Apparently the old stuff has a lot of potassium in it which would be very bad for Randy.

This is one reason I love this site so much. It gives us power and information. I am sure Randy is glad you are taking such good care of him! Let us know how he does.

Randy's colonoscopy went fine. Everyone was right...the worst part was drinking the yucky stuff prior to the procedure. They didn't tell him to drink it all within 2 hours so he wasn't totally cleaned out...the doc only got to see 70% of his colon. But he said it was ok. :bandance; :bandance; :bandance;

Great news! Glad it is over and everything looks good. :thumbup;
