Man Needing Kidney Transplant Meets 'Guardian Angel'
Acquaintance Becomes Much More To Man In Need

RUSSIAVILLE, Ind. -- Don Frazier, in desperate need of a kidney after years of battling high blood pressure, says he has a guardian angel in Ronda McCorkle.
Frazier, 70, and McCorkle are parishioners at the Honeycreek Missionary Baptist Church. They were only passing acquaintances, until McCorkle heard a higher calling.
"I just had to stay on that list for four or five years, or maybe die before I get a kidney," Frazier said.
Frazier's son wanted to help, but he wasn't a donation match. McCorkle said she could not stop thinking of Frazier and his condition.
"I just saw Don getting weaker and weaker all the time, and I just felt impressed that God put Don on my mind all the time," McCorkle said. "It's all I could think about."
McCorkle said it was a calling from God that moved her to volunteer to give an immeasurable gift.
"This is really God telling me this is something I really want you to do," McCorkle said.
A wife, mother and grandmother, McCorkle told her husband she wanted to donate her kidney.
"He said, 'Well, if God's telling you to do something, I'm not going to be the one telling you you can't do it," McCorkle said.
Suddenly, McCorkle became much more than just an acquaintance to Frazier. She became his chance to live.
"God asks people to do stuff all the time. Everyone doesn't listen, and everyone's not willing to do what he asks them to do, because if they did, there would be headlines every day," McCorkle said.
"She's my angel. She's my angel in disguise," Frazier said.
The surgery is scheduled for May 16 in Indianapolis. McCorkle and Frazier said they plan to be home and back in church as soon as they can.
