Have you heard about the transgender man who is pregnant?
This absolutely blows my mind. Seems strange that he would have
everything it takes to deliver a baby.

Here's the news story: http://ihatedialysis.com/forum/index.php?topic=7680.0
He's a woman (no man parts) - weird story - but to each his own! :-\

They were on Oprah yesterday and it was an interesting interview. Actually, they seemed very "normal" and happy. It is a little strange seeing "him" pregnant, but the more he explained his life - well, I guess the more I could accept what they are doing. At first, I felt they were just looking for media attention, but that doesn't seem the case. They daughters of the wife are very supportive. Interesting situation.

The only problem I have with this whole story hoopla is the use of man. Legally a man, but not anatomically a man. So the use of first man pregnant when the story broke is wrong to me, plus other transgenders have done this before. If you say your the first man to be pregnant, you better be like Arnold Schwartzinhagger in the movie he becomes pregnant (one who still has all the male reproductive organs) I could see the story better if it was about harassment/prejudice from the medical staff who took their money for treatment then later refused to help them because the staff felt uncomfortable dealing with them.

I agree, Chris. They did say they were refused help by 7 physicians before they found one that would accept them as the unusual couple they are. And there have been many transgender pregnancies. They originally gave their story only to People magazine and Oprah. I would think the child may have some concerns later on in life. But, the child is the innocent one in the situation. I hope it all works out well. I don't know -- just really different.

I agree with Chris and Paris. This person isn't really a Man. Wish them all the best.

This whole thing makes me SICK! I cannot believe any doctor would agree to help them- and in my opinion if you want to change your sex to become a man or a woman- then there should be NO IN BETWEEN!! Either you have all your male or female organs removed or no surgery. I don't see whats wrong with having a surrogate Woman carry the child. I feel so sad for the unborn child- His 'mother' is actually his 'father'??? WOW is all I can say. It makes me want to scream! This world is going crazy!

I wish them all the best of luck. There are many situations these days and in the past also that many people consider "unnatural" (certainly not my word) ...from surrogate pregnancies, to gay marriages, to bi-racial couples and on and on but I see it all as just people trying to live out their lives in ways they feel best for them. As long as no one is telling me that I must do as they choose to and as long as this child will be wanted, loved and cared for this couple's choice affects me not. If I lived next to them I'd try to be a good neighbour, I'd try to have that child feel that he/she is lucky to have a loving family and I'd try to convey that I don't consider them freaks for wanting what so many of us want. Theirs is not my life to judge.
I have enough to improve on in my own life without taking on any attitude that might cause distress for others as they try to find happiness for themselves in theirs. If they step on my toes, that's another matter.

I'm with Gail (monrein)...with all that I have going on, the last thing I give a damn about is how others are living their lives. I realize now, more than ever, how fleeting life is and spending any of that valuable time hating, or conemning, seems fruitless. Everyone has the right to be happy...I'm not so arrogant to believe I know the ONLY way to achieve that. I don't...so go forth, have your baby, live your life...I'd rather you keep it to yourself (the same way I wish Lindsay and Britney would be left alone so they could straighten our thieir lives) but I have the ability to ignore that which doesn't interest or impact me so I can just try to make the best of the day that lies ahead of me.
