I have the same problem but I always thought if ,perhaps,my glutamus wasn't so maximus it wouldn't hurt so bad.  :rofl; I tried pillows and chair padsand nothing really helps. So I just squirm as much as possible.

At dialysis, Rolando uses a full size cushion from an old sofa. It is sufficient. There is a company called EHOB. They make waffle cushions (a type of air cushion). We use one on Rolando's wheelchair. It has worked when nothing else would, not even gel cushions. We also use it under him in the car for any trip longer than an hour. It works great. Just search "EHOB" to get contact info.

Marvin says there's nothing much that he can do to relieve this problem.  While he's running on the machine, he squirms and repositions in the chair, moving from hip to hip and sitting straight up to reclining.

I started folding my soft cushy blanket in quarters and putting it in the bottom of my chair to sit on.  Just make sure the wrinkles are smoothed out.  While not perfect, most of the time it's very effective.  I miss it's warmth but couldn't find another one like it, so use a couple lighter ones to cover up with.  Since I have a fistula in my lower arm and have to keep it perfectly still to run, I'm kept in one position and was really miserable before I started using the blanket.  I'd also tried a couple different pillows with no added effect.  Good luck.

I have a pillow on my neck and that helps in those uncomfy chairs.  There are chairs that scoot out instead of lie back and are terrible uncomfortable. You have to get the chair into the exact position you can stand it in and just lie there.
