I am (or was) on the cycler and loved it. After my hip surgery, I developed bronchitis and a severe painful cough for about three weeks. Then my peritoneal quit...low drain alarms etc. I tried for about a week, then they put in a line and started me on Hemo. Now we used to travel in a motorhome with the cycler, so this is a HUGE lifestyle change. After about a month of Hemo, I decided to try the cycler again and it worked! I was over the moon and cancelled the hemo. After about two weeks of doing well, it quit again! I am now in deep despair and going back to Hemo tomorrow. Anyone out there know what is going on? Has this happened to you?

Sorry Red, I don't know the answer but I can imagine how frustrating and stressful this is.
Sending you some HUGS and hoping you get some answers. :cuddle;
Is there a chance of being trained for home hemo if the PD will no longer work?
-
PD sometimes stops working and you have to do hem. The peritoneum (think that's wahat its called) stops filtering. That's what happened to my husband. He had to change to hemo in 2000. Are you able to train for home hemo. He has been doing nocturnal home hemo since Oct. 06.

Sadly eventually your peritoneum stops working due to doing pd . Maybe its not quite finished yet ?

I don't have anything to add, because others have answered the question. Just wanted to say that I'm sorry this has happened, I hope home hemo is an option for you! :grouphug;
