SEATTLE -- Actor Larry Hagman urged everyone to get tested for kidney and liver disease during a Seattle visit on Thursday.

"One out of eight people … have kidney problems, and if you (should) test for those early because once the onset comes, it's hard to get rid of them. You either have to go on dialysis or have a transplant, and it's hard to get transplants," Hagman said in an interview with KIRO 7 Eyewitness News.

Hagman was in Seattle on behalf of the Northwest Kidney Centers, encouraging everyone to get tested and to donate their organs.

Hagman, who starred in "I Dream of Jeannie" and "Dallas," said he's alive today because of a liver transplant he underwent 13 years ago.
