From columnist Chris Smith in our local "Press Democrat" newspaper in Santa Rosa, CA.:
"An asteroid of sorts sure rocked the world of several dozen patients and staffers at a Santa Rosa dialysis center the other day.
It was a routine afternoon at Satellite Dialysis on Circadian Way off Sebastopol Road, when CRASH! Glass shards flew as something burst through a large window in the 48 station Dialysis room.
It was a wild turkey. The hen seemed unhurt but at least as awed as everyone else in the room.
A staffer shooed the bird back out through the hold in the window. And for once, people who endure Dialysis took home a good tale."
I didn't arrive in the clinic until later that day and I didn't believe the story. We also have bullet holes in our windows so anything can happen at my clinic. I love the fact that they always place me with my back facing the windows.
The east side of our clinic is about four feet from the roadway so I believe I'll be back in the future to tell you about an incident with a vehicle that took me out while watching "Star Trek II."
Gobble, gobble!
