Hello everybody!
My name is NolaGail and I am so glad to have found this site! I have lived with CKD since 1983. I had some hemodialysis when diagnosed, but regained a lot of function. Over the years that has waned (like my neph thought it would). I am still predialysis, but have recently had my catheter put in for PD. Since then, a friend (my angel) has stepped forward to be my living donor. We are a match :bandance; :yahoo;! We hope to finish her eval and have our surgeries early this summer.
In His no-slip grip!

:waving; Hi NolaGail,
I hope all works out for you and your donor. There's good info for living donors at www.livingdonorsonline.org in their message forum. Good luck!

Good luck on the transplant evaluation and surgery. Welcome to the boards here at IHD.com. There is an entire section on transplants and several members have had transplants in the last year or so. It is interesting to read their adventures.

:welcomesign; NolaGail. Glad you're here. There's a ton of information and support here to help you get through everything you have to get through. As someone who is planning to be a living donor myself, I would echo what Okarol said above and say that if your friend/donor doesn't already know about it, she might want to check out livingdonorsonline.org; there's lots of great info and support there too. That and IHD have had (and continue to have) a HUGE impact on me as I go through the process of preparing to donate. Best of luck to both of you; please keep us posted!

Hello and :welcomesign; from the :ukflag;
-
So sad that we have lost this member.
-
She sent me her contact info for our emergency list. She had said to wait 4 weeks before contacting her if she wasn't logging on. That would have been May 29th. It's so hard to believe how quickly she is gone. She was a member a pretty short time but I am glad she found IHD to be helpful.

So very sad. Whatever went wrong, seemed to have happened very fast. Prayers for her family :grouphug;

How sad. She was expecting her transplant, from a friend, this Summer.
