I have a pretty big theatre collection, signed playbills, signed broadway posters, shirts, handouts, anything you can imagine...  Most of it is from shows I have seen personally and went backstage after and a few are from friends who saw different things and brought signed things back for me...  but I have some amazing autographs and photos with me and people like Anthony Rapp, Daphne Ruben Vega, Lou Diamond Phillips, Josie Lawrence, Debbie Gibson, Tom Bosley, Mariette Hartley, Keo Woofard, Jonathan Pryce, Mel B and a million others - but my prized theatre autographs and pictures are from Kristen Chenowith, Tony Curtis, Tommy Tune and Bernadette Peters...  Yep yep.  I am out.  I am a theatre nerd.

Oh Lord, KICKSTART, you opened a can of worms  :rofl; I have collected Precious Moments for 30 years. 4 curio cabinets chocked full. I have been cross stitching for 25 years, and have no walls left to put anything, I also build dollhouses, so they are all over the house, I quilt, so of course they are also everywhere. My poor hubby won't dust because of all the crap as he calls it. I won't tell him about this discussion.  :secret;

I collect NxStage supplies.  Boxes and boxes of supplies.....

All kidding aside, once upon a time (before I moved to Europe) I owned hundreds of pairs of shoes, closets full of clothing and my CD collection was well, embarrassing.  But since I made the big "purge" when I put everything into storage and traveled, my habits changed.  My music is digital.  My shoe collection is in the double digits, and my closets are filled with Nxstage supplies.  So, I guess now you could say that I collect memories.

I have an extensive dust collection.  :)

I love vintage jewerly. Old bracelets and rings are my favorite. I don't have many pieces and they are not worth much, but are special to me. The Victorian Era and Filagree I love.

Thanks to my son, we collect games for various Nintendo game systems.

Seriously though, I seem to collect yarn and patterns for crochet projects that I'll do "someday" or I start and find too frustrating, so I give up. Due to having so much free time since the transplant, I've managed to finish two projects and start one or two others. Probably won't finish either of those before going back to work, though. I also am getting quite a collection of books that I've finished reading. I've got to check with the local used bookstore and see if they have a "trade-in" type of offer.

willieandwinnie, those are beautiful doll houses!  I admire your talent.  Marvin and I made one doll house years ago (about 15) when his niece started teaching kindergarten.  We made it for her classroom and one of the "stations" she set up in her room.  Marvin built it and painted it.  We bought some of the furniture for it, and Marvin made some of the simpler furniture items.  I was in charge of bedspreads, table cloths, curtains, rugs, wallpaper, and "accessories."  That just about drove us crazy!  Oh, my, you have to really pay attention to detail with those doll houses!  It was really nice (I thought), but it took a lot of time.  It was about three feet tall.  We swore after that one that we'd never tackle another one -- and we never did.

Marvin has built quite a few baby cradles (for real babies -- nieces and nephews and then great-nieces and nephews).  They rock and are simply beautiful.  I make the "bedding" to go in them.  We haven't made one in about 3 or 4 years (no new great-nieces and nephews lately).  I also cross stitch and crochet afghans every time I get the chance.

I collect anything "Wizard of Oz," lots of tea pots and "old" china, and books (it's the English teacher in me).

Ummm - I had to quit collecting things - no room left.  I purged oodles of things with the last move.  I still have remnants of a mouse collection that I started in elementary school, a collection of teddy bears that I started in high school, and an antique wooden box collection I started in college.  The mice and bears now occupy only about a shelf each, and the boxes are scattered all over the house holding all sorts of useful things.  Now, I mostly collect fabric for quilting - but at least the finished quilts get sold or given away!

W&W thanks for the piccies , what great houses! The one i got my mum is a 'rose cottage' typical english sort of thing with lots of 'olde worlde' furniture. You are making me want to start on building one now , at least it would pass a few hours in the evening for me!

I have remnants of the huge dog statue collection I had. I was up over 1000 pieces and into the cartoon dogs and Disney dogs.  It got to expensive for me when to buy a piece was over 100 dollars. So I auctioned it off one year and let most of it go. I have around 10 pieces now and I still look. But no buying now.  I have a small lighthouse collection. I started out with Thomas Kinkade lighthouse.  I do not want to collect lighthouses, but people seem to think I do. So I have a couple of them now.  I love boxes and have started a small collection of unusual boxes.  They are taking up space now.  I need another room for my stuff. I also have books.

I will put my dust collection up against anyone else's here!

Romona - thank you so much for sharing one of your vintage bracelets with me for my Secret Santa gift. I love, love it!!! I have a dust collection with a bit of pet hair collection thrown in (we have hardwood floors throughout the house - don't look at the corners of the floors!!!!)

Thanks for the complements everyone. KICKSTART, I spend a couple of hours a week. I like to look at things in magazines and think how I can shrink them down. I use allot of fabric for wall paper, the scale seems to work great. Len is my electrician, so he wires them for me. I love to turn on the lights when it's dark, they look so real. The Christmas tree was a fiber optic one we found somewhere and Len wired it into the dollhouse. I did take picture of the lighthouse that I made for Len and will post them when I get them on my computer. I also made Len's trauma surgeon (he saved his life and we saw him weekly for 4 1/2 years and he will call me back even now) a room box divided into 2 rooms, one his office and the other his examine room. I even made an xray machine that lit up and reduced on of Len's xrays to hang up. If I can find the pictures, I'll post them. He was so damn proud of that thing. Made me feel good. Have a nice evening everyone.

w&w -- you are too creative!  I never would have thought of making an x-ray machine that actually lights up -- and with an x-ray.  That had to be too cool!  As Marvin would say, "You are smarter than the average bear!"  (I'm not sure what that means, but I know it's a complement.)

I did check out his profile , you were right he is a brit.  but I already knew that cause he emailed me once with a union jack flag.  I am usually offensive and a nastyold fart.  I am in pain and dieing and stuff but I wasn't trying to be offensive with the limey slur.  Does that term offend the Brits.?

KICKSTART, Here is a good web site. www.miniatures.com I have brought some stuff from overseas (better quality), and EBay is a great source at reasonable costs. Just take your time when you do start, I found when I first got started that I wanted to hurry and get it put together (not a good idea). If you need any help just yell. It does become additive.  :2thumbsup;

I got my mums house from a little place just up the road from me , they are pretty much the same sort of prices as on the net and Ebay !!. Sometimes they have special deals like discontinued houses , so ii guess i will have to keep popping in there ..and thanks for offer of help thats great! :2thumbsup;

It's not my favourite term and I don't really like hearing it just as you would probably take exception if a Brit were to refer to you or your countrymen as Goddam Yanks!  :ukflag;

I am terribly sorry I had no Idea it was an insult. Please accept my humble appology.  I thought it was more of a term for a sailor.They would call us bloddy colonials or myself here in Texas as Rednecks.Anyway please forgive me I have no reaseon to insult you.

Hey it's OK, I'm a Brit and proud of it, but you can call me what you want as long as it's not late for dinner  :rofl;

Actually I saw it more of a term of affection than an insult -  I looked it up and it said it was a slang word for the English used by Americans, it didn't say it was an insult or anything so don't feel bad about it.  :thumbup;

As a matter of interest does anyone know where it comes from or what it means?  I couldn't find anything on the good old WWW.

the doll houses are wonderful!! i've always admired and enjoyed them.  my daughter says i collect yarn! and if she ever wins power ball i get a yarn room. i make baby blankets for a maternity home. when my first grandchild was born i had so much fun making a blanket i wanted to keep going. however i realized he would know i was crazy if i kept making them for him! so now i make them for charity and whenever i know of someone who is having a baby. and then there are the bears, all kinds of bears, stuffed and ceramic and, well just bears.

Those dolls houses are amazing, really amazing - what talent and what patience.

I used to collect 101 Dalmatian stuff when I was in my teens and early 20's. Then I moved on to anything and everything U2, Duran Duran and INXS. When we moved here to OH, I sold that stuff to help pay the bills. I don't really collect anything anymore. I do have an impressive collection of dog fur/dust tho.

I will put my dust collection up against anyone else's here!

And Paris, I take you up on that offer!  ;)  I can post pics if you like!

Nice doll houses!! I collect old broken jewelry, I have an idea simmering around in my brain, but i need rhinestones...so the cheapest way I have  found to acquire them is to buy broken jewelry then strip out the stones.

I also collect books....when i was younger it was about 'how many'- when I reached 1000 i had a huge booksale, now I only keep the 'special' ones. I have to 'love' the book first to keep it now-  I have some signed first editions, and I tell my family I don't care what you do with all my crap when I die....but there is a written list to deal with my books- they are special.  :)

I do books, too. I have three full shelves to read.  I usually put my read books in a box and give them away.

Okay I will post a pic my dust collection when we get a pic of the dust the housekeeper is coming to get tomorrow!
