Title: hi from tx
Post by: staceyand joe92 on February 20, 2008, 07:24:20 AM
Hello. I was diagnosed with PKD at 17. I am now 39 with GFR 14.  My doctor assures me it is too early to be having symptoms or to begin treatment.

Hi!

Welcome aboard, it's never too early to learn about dialysis, or transplantation for that matter!!

Hopefully we can help you make the right decisions for YOU.

Nice picture there Stacyand Joe,

Welcome to ihatedialysis.com, GFR 14 could hang on awhile or could be overnight, you just never know. I hope you hang there for a long time.

Hope you enjoy IHD and I hope it will be a resource of knowledge for you.

 :waving;    My nephrologist sent me for my fistula when my GFR hit 18.  Good thing, too.  By my next follow-up 3 months later I had dropped to 10.5.  I hope you hang-on to 14 as long as you can.  You'll learn A LOT here.  Check-in often!   ;D

Oh...and I'm in Texas, too - San Antonio.  Where are you?

I am currently living at Fort Hood, TX. My husband is in the Army and just returned from Iraq! We will be relocating to AZ next month. It's nice to know that where ever the Army send us I have access to great info on this site.
Thank you for the warm welcome.

Welcome to our community!  This is just the place for you to be as you prepare yourself for the eventualities.  I was thrilled when I cam upon this website just before i went on dialysis.  it really calmed some of my fears and prepared me and made me what my vascular surgeon recently called 'an informed patient'.  So take advantage of all this site has to offer.  Read, read, read, and post, post, post.  We have become a family here so we need to know what is going on with you.  Not nosy, just family.  :grouphug;

Welcome to the boards.  If you take care of yourself and follow doctors orders and do what you need to do, you can be well for a while yet.  I hope you do it.
