March Madness will be here before we know it.
Do you like it?
Last year was good but I sometimes don't
like it when a favorite program is not on because of it.
And it seems to go on for sooo long.
Just wondering.
-
I hate it because I schedule my tasks around my favorite shows.
-
Marvin LOVES March Madness! He will watch anybody play anybody else.
I could take it or leave it. I'll watch if a team I like is playing. If not, *click* I'm on to the Lifetime Channel to find a good movie. Of course, Marvin gets the big tv in the den to watch ball, and I have to go curl up on my bed and watch the smaller screen.
-
:oops; I misinterpreted what march madness was..
-
Just what was your March madness all about, huh Sluff??
-
:oops; I misinterpreted what march madness was..
??? :urcrazy; What is March madness???
-
I'm dealing with February's Mdness and you guys are already talking about March ? :banghead; :banghead; :)
-
Hoosier hysteria!!!!
Basketball...in the midwest this is BIG!!! This is the college basketball, NCAAA
-
I'm not sure. I thought it was when they change all the tv programs around but now I'm not sure.
-
It's college basketball's "finals" to see who is the champion! It lasts for weeks (during March)...there are games on tv at all times of the day and night.
Sluff, were you having a "blonde" moment?
-
I love it and the opening games pass the time at Dialysis.
-
I love college basketball. It is getting tougher to watch though, because of cheating. Look at the situation in Indiana with Kelvin Sampson. They knew he was a cheater at Oklahoma, but the urge to win was too much. In my opinion, if they want to eliminate cheating, the NCAA should do the following: Because the head coach is ultimately responsible for his program, if the program is cited for recruiting violations, they should stay with the coach. In other words, if his program is said to be dirty, should he decide to go somewhere else, the penalties he was stuck with at the first job should remain with him. That way, other schools would be more reluctant to hire these slimeballs. I will enjoy watching the March Madness, but a little less than in years past.
-
Wait a minute, isurvived ... Kelvin Sampson is a North Carolina boy -- he grew up 45 miles from where Marvin and I live. Marvin said Sampson didn't do anything that a lot of other college coaches haven't done -- and are still doing. He just got caught with his hand in the cookie jar.
Marvin said to send MyssAnne his condolences -- she only has Indiana to pull for. Here in NC, we have Duke, NC State, UNC-Chapel Hill, and Wake Forest to cheer for. Of course, Marvin only pulls for UNC when the other three have been eliminated from "the dance."
Marvin said, "Go, NC State Wolfpack! Bring on the March Madness." (He also added that NC State would never make it this year, so he's going to also pull hard for Duke.)
-
LOL!!! Petey, tell Marvin I appreciate his condolences....but we only NEED one...you obviously need more to compensate!!!
:rofl; :rofl; :rofl;
I've been reading about Sampson, he SAYS he isn't gonna worry about it til the time comes, he has games to coach now!!
-
Well, he got caught "with his hand in the cookie jar" more than once and then lied about it. I personally don't care where he is from, if you get caught, cheating is cheating. Period.
-

Actually, cheating is still cheating -- even if you don't get caught!
-
Ohio State has a 7 ft. guy who is signing on for next year.
-
it lasts too long! i'm waiting to be able to say................
spring is sprung
the grass is riz
round ball was
and baseball IS!
-
I cannot stand pro sports of any kind. In the case of baseball, I like the weather and that's it. They cheat more than the college athletes or their coaches do.
-
Well, I guess we don't have to worry about Sampson. He gone! :beer1;
-
saw that in the paper this morning...wonder if his players will make good on their threat and not play tonight...
-
If you live in NC, you plan your work schedule around March Madness. It is almost a religion down here. We pull for NCState but I will be a loyal UNC fan if they give me a new kidney! :rofl;

Paris, Marvin is usually an "ABC" fan -- "Anybody But Carolina" -- however, he said he'd become a UNC fan if they give you a new kidney, too. (But, until then, "Go, NC State Wolfpack!")
-
You know it's too bad that the kids have to get caught in the middle of all of this stuff. As I have said before, there are steps that the NCAA could take to eliminate cheating, but the question remains, will they do it?
-
Well, it's here, March Madness.
Any favorites?

My husband is so excited. Our son gave him tickets to Sundays games at the RBC Center in Raleigh. So much for my lovely family Easter dinner :basket:- but who could pass up going to the games? I know they will have a great time. Dad use to coach son's basketball team years ago, so it is still a great bond between them. Thankfully, we are a big family, so there will still be 12 of us for dinner!!
-
Wow, Duke needs to step up their game after tonight. Won by 1 point! Hope they play better on Saturday. Not necessarily for them--just like our hometown teams.
-
Go Gonzaga "Zags"!!!
-
Playing in online brackets,got all but one on first day. Ha, only a matter of time before I get busted.
-
My son called at noon; he was headed to the RBC Center for the round of games today. Raleigh is full of fans this weekend. It is fun to be around all the action.
Bolta72, you are doing good! Hope the rest are in your favor :thumbup;

Marvin says he would like to see Clemson win it all, but he doubts they will. He said UNC will probably win it, and that doesn't make him happy (BIG NC State fan). He has been watching game after game after game. I like college basketball, but not like Marvin does. Today, he watched Davidson (NC school) win and Western Kentucky (lower seeded team -- I pulled for them because I always pull for the "underdog"). Now, he's watching UNC beat the snot out of Mount St. Mary's.
-
Go TARHEELS!!

lol, after a great start my brackets are a busting. I took NC to win it all also.

Rose and Sir Ken -- It's America's college basketball championship games for "Division I" men's teams. (Division I means the college must have an enrollment of -- Marvin think it's -- 1,500 students). The tournament starts out with 65 teams from all over the US. They play the beginning rounds at eight different sites in the country. When a team loses a game, they are eliminated and their basketball season is over for the year. After today (Sunday), we'll be in the "Sweet Sixteen" (meaning the number of teams left in is now at just 16). Those 16 teams will play next week-end at four different sites in the country; there will be two rounds next week-end. So, after next week-end, there will only be four teams left vying for the championship. The "Final Four" games will be held in San Antonio, TX, the following week-end. The winning team gets a big trophy and "bragging rights" for an entire year. It's a big thing over here with sports fans -- and especially with Marvin (who loves sports of any kind and watches every game no matter who's playing). Marvin is now pulling for Davidson; at the current time, they do have the longest winning streak in men's college basketball. (But, he said that will probably end at about 5 EST p.m. today.) In all reality, as much as Marvin hates to say it, the UNC Tar Heels will probably win the NCAA championship (Marvin is a big NC State fan). Marvin said if the underclassmen on the Tar Heel squad come back next year (instead of going pro), UNC should win it two years in a row.
Marvin said you could find more info on NCAA basketball on
ncaa.com
or
cbssports.com
Can you tell that Marvin's as hooked on sports as I am on IHD?
-
Thank you Petey and Marvin, I was feeling quite left out, I understand it a lot more now, thanks for taking the time to give us all that info. Hope Davidson make it to the sweet 16. :bunny: (I still love this bunny I hope he won't go when Easter ends!)
-
I'm for the underdogs. :Kit n Stik;
-
Davidson was definitely an underdog in this tournament...and they won this afternoon! They're in the Sweet Sixteen.
-
That bunny is the Sluffbunny! It is not going anywhere.

Thanks for the explanation Petey. All is now clear. Go go go Davidson! :2thumbsup; :2thumbsup; :2thumbsup;

Yes Davidson beat Georgetown. Now they have to play #3 seed Wisconsin...GOO BADGERS!!!!!!!!!!
-
Box -- I just asked Marvin if he knew anything about Wisconsin that I could tease you about, and he said, "Yeah! They're damn good!" That may not be a positive thought for Davidson, but Marvin said he's still pulling for those Wild Cats!
-
My husband and son said the games they saw Sunday were great. They loved the Davidson game. said it was well played and exciting. Most feel that UNC will take it all. My son went to Friday, Saturday and Sundays games. They both had a fun weekend. UNC is my transplant center--so kind of feel loyalty to them!
-

I'm with you, Boxman! Go Badgers!!! Madison is my home town, so even though I'm not exactly a sports fan, the Badgers are always my favorite. :thumbup;

Rose and Ken -- if you're still pulling for Marvin's underdog team of Davidson, they beat Georgetown tonight!!!!!! Sorry, Boxman!

Sorry, but Davidson lost tonight to Kansas. UNC will be playing Kansas on Saturday. This will be an interesting game since Kansas used to be Roy Williams' team. GO HEELS!!!
-
Right there with you Rookiegirl. Go Heels! If God isn't a Tarheel, then why is the sky Carolina Blue?? :rofl;
-
I would like to see Memphis win but think Kansas probably will.
-
I would like to see Memphis win but think Kansas probably will.
I too would like Memphis to win just because Kansas bet UNC. I was so mad watching the game. I don't know if I can watch the final tonight.
-
I will take Memphis in this one...Boxman
-
Marvin said he didn't like Memphis or Kansas. He hopes they play for three days straight, and then they call it a draw. He said he'd pull for Memphis, but he doesn't like their coach. Kansas, well, Marvin likes the coach but he said the players all act cocky. In the UNC game Saturday night, Marvin said he agreed with what Roy Williams said after the game -- he didn't have the team ready to play.
-
He sure didn't. At one time it was like 40-12 or 40-14.
boring to watch. Got closer at the end tho.
-
Okay. My hubby is watching the final game. They just showed Roy Williams on the stand wearing Kansas jersey. How ironic. I'm just MAD. I know, I know he use to coach the darn team. I hope they loose :rant;
-
Could not believe it.
Memphis should have won.
Got to hand it to Kansas for not giving up.
If Memphis would have just gotten 1 od the last 3 foul shots.................
-
I know exactly what you mean. Memphis should have won. The referees sucks! There were so many fouls that were not called against Kansas. You are correct, if they would have made those free throws. TOO BAD! SO SAD!
Regardless, I'm still a TARHEEL FAN. GO HEELS! Maybe next year.
