Title: cyst on each kidney

My brother-in-law had an ultrasound because he had a pain on his right
side.  It showed he had a cyst on each kidney.  The one on the left kidney
was larger than the right.  What does this mean.  Do they usually do anything to
remove them or leave them there.  Do they decrease kidney function?
My sister-in-law just told me today about them.  I had no info for her.
