:thumbdown; well not really, i could have done without any of it.
i came home january 6th from a very nice visit to my family in oregon. never strayed very far from home so i didn't get to see anyone outside of corvallis. the 15th of january we had scheduled a nice little outpatient procedure to try to make my fistula work better. NOT ! ! ! ! major surgery latter, a incision that goes from the inner bend of my arm around to the under side of my upper arm, a new upper arm fistula and a 2 day hospital stay latter.........my arm hurt so much i couldn't use the computer. i only managed to make a few short one handed posts so no one would think i'd fallen off the face of the earth. i've gone from bitchy, to grouchy, to grumpy and was really beginning to think i might never reach mildly annoyed when, sunday evening (the 3rd), news was almost over and i noticed it hurt to breath when i took a deep breath. just in one spot. didn't think that much about it, i have asthma, have had several bad bouts with bronchitis and pleurisy. so thought i'd wait and see what would happen since i wasn't really wheezing. monday when i got up for dialysis it just plain hurt to breath period. but out the door i went. half way there i really considered having the guy who drives me turn around and head for the er, but i didn't. when the nurse saw me she pronounced me "green". not good unless you're kermit the frog. ( ;musicalnote; it ain't easy being green.....frog or not) at any rate we did dialysis, during which we called my doctor and he had me stay for some more iv antibiotics then sent me on to the er. an ekg, chest xray, 4 ultrasounds and a lung scan later i was admitted with a diagnosis of pulmonary edema (blood clot in my right lung) and no idea of where it came from. they never did find that out. the plan of action was enough heparin to melt and elephant and enough coumedin to get me to a therapeutic level so i could go home. projected time 5 to 15 days, you've got to be kidding. luckily i'm home in 4 days, just shows ya what they really know. now my blood may be thinner but i guarantee there isn't as much of it as there used to be. blood draw, 20 vials all large sunday night, then 4 a day the rest of the time i was there. i got tired of explaining why the couldn't use my right arm. since when isn't "no, everything must be done on this arm" after all there's a bright pink band on the other one that means keep away. i didn't take anyones head off, i guess i really wasn't as bitchy as i thought i was. i'm home, tired, but glad to be here and alive, which is the important thing. not happy to be on coumeden, which may last 6 to 12 months to life, but well.........there aren't any options that are any better. glad to be back, missed you all have a lot of catching up to do, which i'm looking forward to. my i do know how to rattle on don't i?

Hi Gramma
I hope you are resting and feeling better.
I can relate to the blood clot episode as I have one in my left ventricle.
I also am on cummiden and other blood thinners.
Mine was discpvered 12/11. Have to undergo a test soon to see if it is gone.
I don't know caused mine either unless it was the leg amputation surgery.
Take care. God bless!
