Hello all,
Just FYI I finally have my PD cath placed tomorrow. I hate surgery and with a cool half dozen major procedures under my belt I am not looking forward to it. One of my major concerns is that I have had stomach pain for the past two weeks that has not gone away. On one hand I want to get this surgery over with because I despise hemo and want to escape it's bloody, bleachy, uncompromising grasp. On the other hand I am afraid that there will be some complications from me being inexplicably ill. What do you think I should do?
Thanks,
CW

Talk to your Surgeon tomorrow before he does anything. Tell him about your pain and see what he says. He may want to postpone the procedure until you are more stable.
You will like PD. I hope it all works out for you.

Will say some prayers tomorrow that all goes well. :grouphug;

No advice to offer - I've never done PD. Just a hug and good thoughts - hope it works out well. :cuddle;

Best wishes for you tomorrow :grouphug;

:bestwishes; I hope all goes well. :cuddle;

Please discuss your pain with the surgeon. I'm sending positive thoughts to you, CW.

Hope all goes well. :grouphug;

No PD here either, but good luck :thumbup;

Lay it on the line and explain the truth. They may still go ahead with the surgery. Good luck CW. :grouphug;
-
My best wishes, and my prayers are with you.

Best to you :grouphug;

Tell hm. He may decided to do it anyway, based on where the pain is and what kind it is.
Good luck, you will LOVE PD. Especially if you get the cycler!!!!

Again i also say explain the pain, it may not be anything bad and your op can still go ahead, better to say now than let them go ahead and then have problems. At worst it might mean a week or two delay till you feel better , but its got to be worth it , than find out later you got problems ..good luck :2thumbsup;

Thank you for taking the time to respond everyone,
I called the pre surgery nurse and she called the doctor and she said that she would not operate with a patient that possibly had an infection so I have to reschedule. Problem is it took me two months to get this appointment and I really want to start as soon as possible :banghead; . So I have to go to see my GP Thursday and go from there. No offense Hemo patients I did it for six years and I am kind of fed up it has a lot of negative effects on me and I am hoping that pd alleviates some of my issues.
Thanks for the well wishes I really do appreciate them all :thx;.

I'm sorry you didn't get to go through with the surgery, but it's better to be safe than sorry, always, when dealing with something like this.
It WILL come!!! Someday...... :bow; :bow;

Just keep hangin in there, it will happen and all being well you'll love PD. Good luck.

Good Luck and speedy recovery! :grouphug;

Well it may not have gone the way you wanted as far as the timeline but it probably is for the best. hang in there friend and I hope you don't have an infection. :grouphug;

CW, I'm sorry the timeline is not what you wanted, but better to make sure everything is good to go so you can start PD with no problems. I was on PD for 14 months, and LOVED it (as much as you can love dialysis.) Your time will come. Hang in there.
