I was just prescribed Lyrica for neuropathic pain. Anyone else take this medicine? I'm concerned because from what I've read it should be used with caution in patients with elevated creatinine. Thanks in advance.

I use Lyrica for neuropathic pain also but I have no problem with my creatinine levels yet so I really can't help you much except you need to watch the dosage until you know what your creatinine is. My Diabetes doctor has me on only 50mg capsules 3x/Day. That doesn't help me much so I skip them in the morning and afternoon and take all three about an hour before going to bed and it helps me sleep a little better.

Mr. Sluff, I do not believe that is the way your doctor wants you to take it. >:D
You know I think I just might try it your way. I think I will just wolf down all my pills for the week and wash them down with a cool Budweiser or two or three. It would save me time counting them three times a day. :beer1;
I hope you know I am just teasing. :) I have also altered doses. I am on an antibiotic right now that must be taken six hours before magnesium. I have to take the antibiotic twice a day and the magnesium twice a day. I am not taking the magnesium until I am off the antibiotic. I figure I would have to take something in the middle of the night.
Sorry got off topic.

:rofl; If only we could do that... that would be great, but yah... defeats the purpose. ;)

I just got prescribed that because my brother's kidney is very big and its press against two main nerves. It's a stabbing pain. I think its 75mg. I made me very loopy and I have been taken Norco for almost 8 months. I didn't notice a difference in the stabbing pain, so I decided to take it for a week. Still hasn't helped. Guess its back to Norco or Darvocet.

My Mother used to take Lyrica 100mg & later on 50mg. We stopped it since the side effects are not good. She sleeps all day, loses her balance and not in herself. She switched to Gabapentin. Has also the same sleepiness effect but more subtle than Lyrica.

I take the gabapentin with the lyrica. Thanks for the shaking finger Romona, ummm I don't think I will tell the Doctor how I do that but hopefully my numbers are OK and they will raise the dose to 100 3x/day. She told me that they would do that if the numbers were good and I see my Neph today.

My husband took Lyrica for RLS before he started dialysis. After he started dialysis (NxStage) the RLS went away.
I take it for peripheral neuropathy due to an inoperable blockage in one femoral artery - foot gets about 50% of normal blood flow. And, also because I have fibromyalgia. I take only 25 mg at bedtime and it works great. My doc said to start on a low dose at bed time for a week and if I did not notice improvement by the end of the week to take 2 and continue up to 4, 25 mg at bedtime. He said giving my body time to adjust slowly would alleviate most of the noticeable side effects and he was right - they all went away in away in a week and the 25mg is still working for me. Of course, those with more severe problems will not stop at just 25 mg, but I think the idea of raising the dosage slowly is a good one.

My Mom's been on Lyrica for about a yr..very low dose 25mg.. 3x a day....sorry no advice on its effect on creatinine levels...but her nephro was the one that prescribed it for her diabetic neuropathy..
