Title: I need some advice
Post by: karen547 on January 14, 2008, 07:51:51 AM
well this weekend was bad. My parents got into a huge argument, and my dad was becoming violent. I left the house, went to the neighbors, and they called the police. well needless to say my dad is mad as hell, but when he's threatening my mom's life what am i supposed to do!? I don't really have any place to go, my sister is in california and my relatives are all kind of jerks, and now I don't know what to do, I cannot stay at home but with being on dialysis, don't have much of a choice, I just feel like running away from everything and my family, but I'm afraid.

Im not of much help , but here in the uk we have 'dialysis social workers' who help with problems. If you have one there i would talk to them firstly , if not someone at the hospital? Someone there might be able to help you sort this problem out ..good luck !

Karen, what a horrible situation for you to be in the middle of. I agree with Kickstart, speak to a social worker. I hope your situation improves and I'm sending prayers your way. Keep us posted.  :cuddle;

Karen,

I cannot tell you how bad I feel for you, what a horrible
situation at home- and having to deal with dialysis, also! :banghead;
I would not, and I do mean not, hesitate to call your unit, and get
with your social worker asap- and if you find no help there, perhaps
your neph can direct you to someone!
I hope things get better for you soon!

Anne

Absolutely speak to your dialysis social worker. He or she will be able to point you in the direction of resources to help. Also, for the personal, emotional toll this takes on you, do you belong to a church or synagogue? Perhaps having a minister to speak to can help you deal with some of the stress, and sometimes just an impartial ear is a big help. Best of luck!  :grouphug;

Call a social worker.  Your dialysis unit should be able to direct you to one.  They wil help you find somewhere to live. You don't need to have to deal with that situation and dialysis too.

Karen I'm so sad to hear this. Do you have domestic violence workers (like we do in the UK).  DOver here details are available at all local authorities, doctors, chemists etc and there's a freephone line.  If you have one (or a womens aid/refuge) then get in touch, they will help you - you don't have to be the partner of an abuser to get help.  Social workers are another source of help as people here have already suggested.  I hope you get some help fast. Thinking of you.  :grouphug;

Now he will not speak to me at all. I have been staying out of his way, and just trying to do my part around the house, but hes pretty mad I think.
