Title: Been Stressed Lately
Post by: meadowlandsnj on December 27, 2007, 01:20:11 PM
I've been stressed lately, a lot going on at home.  My mother is going through a depression which she finally admitted was because the kidney she gave me failed.  I try to tell her they don't last forever, sometimes they do fail.  I don't know if she blames me for some reason.  She told me she saw what I went through when it failed, but hell, I got over it!  It was rough ad I go through alot but it's over now and I'm doing great.  I feel better now than I did the last two years of the transplant.  My sister had blood in her urine so she was sent to a specialist who told her it probably was kidney cancer.  She needs to get a partial nephrotemy. They caught it early so they say it'll be curable without chemo or anything.  I can't lose my sister, she's my best friend.  I just can't.  I pray every night and ask God to take it away from her and give it to me because my kidneys are shot to hell anyway.  Her daughter just had a baby November 23 and I want my sister to be a grandmother for years and years.  I don't have any kids so it doesn't matter for me you know?  I was planning on moving down where she is in the spring but if she needs me I'll be there whenever she asks me to.  What is it with kidneys in my family??  How can I destress?  Plus I have a family member who is stressing me out, she's a manipulative lying biotch who I hate.  She's worming into my parents lives and I just worry about them, they're elderly in heir 79's but act younger, you know?  My dad is 74 and he does everything, too much and I worry about him.  I just don't know what to do anymore.  Dialysis is the least of my problems now believe it or not  Should I ask for prozac or something???  I also have to admit to everyne I was bulimic years ago and it's starting to come back and I'm fighting it.
I have one great thing, my great neice Karleigh Ann.  When I see her it all goes away.  I wish I lived near to them.  My neice calls me all the time and sends me pictures so it helps.
thanks for listening
Donna

You have an incredible amount going on in your life and I think you're trying to take your family's problems onto yourself and maybe worry more than you need to. Please do talk to your Dr about this.  Your biggest worry sounds like your sister. It sounds like she'll be fine. Of course you'll worry about her, but it sounds like you're worrying about her life being at stake when you said she'll likely be cured.

I worry about my elderly parents sometimes, too. It sounds like there are so many people who prey on the elderly. It's scary. All you can do is tell them your concerns and let them make their own decisions though. They might see more than you think they do about the situation with your relative.

I have a 73-year old friend with Parkinson's who did two stints in the Peace Corps after she retired. She recently got back from a cross-country road-trip by herself. She's always either just getting home from some long trip or getting ready to take off again. Who's to say what is "too much" for someone?

It's not unusual for a donor to feel sadness at the loss of the recipient's kidney. Your mom might be helped by getting support from other donors at www.livingdonorsonline.org.
I am a worrier myself so I always try to remember what my friend Cathy quotes: "Worry never robs tomorrow of its sorrow, it only saps today of its joy."
I pray all works out for your sister and they can eliminate the cancer.
Take care of yourself meadowlands, we are here for you xxxooo
