...to put his socks and t-shirts in the laundry hamper right-side out, and now I went to do some laundry today and I have to start training my 9-year-old!! Aaarrrrggghhh! I said something to him and he said, "I don't care." :banghead; Well I do, I have to put my hand in those nasty things to turn them right-side out! Does anyone have any idea how gross a 9 year old boy's socks can get??

Disposable you said?

Wash them inside out, or however they are in the laundry. Then he'll get them back the same way he left them. If he doesn't care, then you shouldn't either. :)
-
I know the feeling KT, my hubby doubles his socks cuz its so freaken cold, and when he takes them off, do you think he has the courtesy to take the one from the inside out? Nooooooo, i hate washing and finding out i missed a couple that had the sock on the inside still, GRRRRR >:( (i guess i could at least be happy that he puts them in the hamper though huh?) lol, ;D

Socks! I love socks. My biggest pet peeve is someone taking my socks!! I have three girls. The second one is when the socks are not put together. I don't like washing single socks!
-
Romona, we fold laundry in our spare/guest bedroom, and I have a pile of singles off to the side. Most of the time, they all work out, but I go through it every couple of months and get rid of the ones that the mate is hopelessly lost.
As for washing them inside out and returning them to him that way, he'd probably wear them that way!

:lol; If he didn't care, then I wouldn't either. I used to be one of those OC people that had to have every article of clothing ironed and neatly folded in every drawer, linens all folded the exact same way, all my shoes in my closet paired, sorted by color and season, and all facing the same way in a straight line (I hated that the heels were more narrow than the front so the gap wasn't the same). All of my clothes hangers had to be the same kind and color for each kind of clothes - blouses on white, jeans on blue, dress pants on wood, etc. Almost thirty years ago, I went for counseling after a bad divorce and the best advice I got was, "Don't sweat the small stuff.".

What's an iron? :rofl; :rofl;
Wrinkle releaser! I love it. My iron is still like new in the box! :rofl; :rofl;
Hey KT930 maybe we can start a "singles" club! :rofl;

I can relate, but with jeans...one daughters pants come off inside out- one has one leg inside out- every pair in the wash- I just make a pile and call them- get in here and fix your pants, and they know what the problem is- they fix it. More and more they have to do the laundry- so maybe I will start leaving my pants inside out for THEM for awhile lol.

I have an 8 year old, so I know how gross those socks get! I stopped worrying about that since I have a bigger dilemna. Both Hubby and son leave their underwear in their pants. GROSS!! I have now refused to wash anything with underpants left in it. Hubby has started to fix this problem since he didn't have any workpants left. My son could care less what he wears for pants. He'll be harder to train!
-
My husband has several belts. He usually leaves a belt on his pants for me to remove when I wash clothes. I get the underpants left in the pants thing with my six year old son.
-
most 9 year olds are old enough to start doing some of their own laundry, especially socks and underwear, which they really can't ruin. or you could try refusing to wash the socks. and who cares if he wears them inside out. if you're taking him somewhere and want him to look especially nice, and his socks are inside out, make him redress completely. when he's unconvinced enough he'll start doing it the "right" way so you'll continue doing his laundry.

I'm toying with the idea of advertising every single sock I have which has lost it's partner on Ebay. If everyone did the same I reckon you'd be able to pair them again because somebody somewhere will have identical remaining socks from a pair. It could be called Sock Swap Shop. :bandance; :bandance; :bandance;
