I had a mammogram (I know -- too much information!)yesterday. I had a lovely technician and we talked quite a bit. I explained my husband's sister dying of breast cancer this year and the second sister being diagnosed with breast cancer. She asked if that is why I was having a mammogram and I replied that it was part of my yearly tests to stay on the transplant list. She asked if I was on dialysis because her brother works for a company that has some kind of home-hemo dialysis, but she couldn't remember the name. I said "is it Nxstage?" She said "yes!" My neph had told me no one did training in this area, so I was very surprised. She asked for my email address and gave me his email. Isn't it amazing how people fall into each others lives? I know,Goofynina, there aren't any co-incidences ---- it all happens the way it is suppose to. So, I have emailed him and gave him this wonderful website. I told him we loved Nxstage and would welcome him with welcome arms. So if, you see a post from Curt with Nxstage say hello and give him the usual big IHD welcome. BTW, all looked good. :thumbup;

How I hate that word - mammogram. I remember my first mammogram. Now I am not exactly a Twiggy in that area (more of a Dolly Parton). When I saw what the machine had to do, I freaked. There were lots of signs up saying "We Compress Because We Care".
Glad your tests were good!

I am glad to hear the test was negative that's great news...Boxman

... I explained my husband's sister dying of breast cancer this year and the second sister being diagnosed with breast cancer....
You need to check out the web site www.sisterstudy.org
"...The Sister Study is the only long-term study of women aged 35 to 74 whose sister had breast cancer. It is a national study to learn how environment and genes affect the chances of getting breast cancer.
The Sister Study needs at least 50,000 women to join the effort to find the causes of breast cancer. We are almost there, but we still need more women of all backgrounds, occupations, ages, and ethnic groups to join. In order for everyone to benefit from the results of this landmark breast cancer research study, we want to more than double the number of sisters enrolled from the following populations:
Currently Enrolled
African Americans 4079
Latinas 1930
Other ethnic minorities 932
High School education or less 6041
All women 65-74 6467
Be part of the solution.
If you are eligible, join the Sister Study today and
tell other women about the study!
Woman by woman…Sister by sister…
We can make a difference!..."

Yep Paris, it is so true when they say "the Lord works in mysterious ways" but no matter if its good or bad, it is always the way its supposed to be. So glad you went for those tests and got connected with someone who can help you further with your decision and i hope and pray that whatever decision you make you are happy with and it works best for you. I love you my friend :cuddle;

Right back at you, Goofynina!! :cuddle; You know how much I love you!

I lovw how fate happens or a great coincidence takes us where we need to be. So glad you had good results, I have only ever had 1 mammogram as I am only 29, but it sucked, :lol; :grouphug;

I got an email from the tech's brother and another one from the area manager. They both seem very willing to help with any information, etc that they can.
On another note, I got a call last night from the radiologist saying they see something on the mammogram and want to do more tests. How much fun! I am going to visit my sister for a few days for a late Christmas so will go in next Friday for more pictures. I am not the least bit worried, but my husband is freaking out. Remember he had one sister die of breast cancer this year and another one diagnosed with breast cancer. It will turn out to be nothing--they are just being cautious. Good grief, if we spazzed out everytime they saw something on a test, we would all be nuts!! Oh yeah---I think most of us already are nuts!

Paris, :grouphug;
I hope all goes well with your upcoming test. My daughter just had a scare a couple months ago, surgeon took her in for surgery and the mass was just gone. I'll say prayers for you. Enjoy your visit with your sister and tell your husband to try and relax. I agree with you and the spazzing out. Take Care.

Hi paris,
Same thing happened to me a couple months ago. They saw something on my routine mammogram and had me come back for another look, which showed . . . . NOTHING! Whatever they had seen (or thought they'd seen) was gone. I wasn't too worried about it because I've had a couple of benign cysts before and I was pretty sure it would be just another one, but -- even better -- it was nothing at all!
The cool thing about going back for additional views is that, at least in my experience (I've had to do this once or twice before), they tell you the results right then and there! So you can walk out of the place that very day either with a lovely sense of relief or knowing that it's time to start worrying in earnest now :(, which of course would not be such a good outcome, but at least there's no waiting! :)
I agree that there's no point in freaking out yet. It might turn out to be a lot of energy expended on nothing. I tend to be anxious in general, so I often find that it's helpful to remind myself of a friend's advice: "Let's wait to worry," i.e., don't start worrying until you KNOW there's something to worry about.
With all of that said, I will be thinking of you and hoping for the best for you next Friday. :cuddle;

I hope they are mistaken but if there is something there maybe it is in the early stages. A few years ago I was told I had cancer of the adrenal gland. I went through a million scans etc. Came out negative but they really ran me through the mill.

Sending you positive thoughts and prayers...Boxman

Can you please send Ken's Visa this way?

Can you please send Ken's Visa this way?
Do you want his VISA that entitles him to stay in this country or the one that earns him cash back?

The one that earns him cash back of course. I am willing to help him earn lots of cash back with it.

I want the platinum American Express!!
Thanks for the kinds words, friends. I am not worried at all. Are you kidding? There are too many other things to worry about! I forgot to mention that AlohaBeth had a physical a month ago and her liver numbers are elevated. Doctor is hoping it is due to too much Tylenol (she has degenerative disk disease). They want to wait a few weeks and then will do a full liver panel. Now she wishes she had downed a few more margaritas!! That would make for a more colorful story of why, at 24 she has elevated liver numbers!!
Isn't life interesting with all it's twists and turns? I really am ready for a very straight road--no hills, no valleys,no curves---just long and straight!

Just got back from an 1 1/2 hour visit with the radiologist. He did lots more digital views, would read them, do more.etc. But, in the end, he feels there isn't cancer. He showed me the spot he was concerned about and I really appreciated the time he took. So, here I am bruised and sore---but thank goodness, no cancer. :bandance; Just another speed bump in this long road I am on!
-
:clap; That's encouraging news Paris!!
I hope Beth gets good news with the liver results when she gets tested.
:cuddle;
-
Glad to hear it, paris. :thumbup;
-
Thank God :bow; That is great news Paris, keep on keepin' on my friend. :cuddle;
-
Thank God :yahoo; :cuddle;
-
:yahoo;
Now we can conquer the world.
We have to wait to check on Beth's liver. If all is well :wine; :beer1;
-
Thanks everyone. And I am sure my sweet Beth will be fine, too. 2008 has to be a good year for us---and I include my IHD family in that "us"!
-
Thank you, Paris. That news cheered me up. I had a very unpleasant run-in with a friend today and it left me really shaken. I needed to hear good news. thanks for your wishes for your IHD family.
