I've learnt a lot on the board even though I mainly lurked and I'd like to thank all of you here :thx;
We lost my father in law Ron today at 11.15am. :'( He has been quite ill for a long time now. A lot of his problems were brought on by his refusal to take his diabetes seriously and with the blindness, dialysis and double amputation he was ready to go.
My hubby had been by to visit his father the day before. Ron was unresponsive so we knew it was the start of the end.
We received a call from the nursing home at 10am telling us to come by that day as he was going downhill and we spoke to Ron's pastor who made arrangements to visit him that afternoon. We knew we did not have much longer so we called his wife and my sister in law unfortunately his daughter lives 8 hours drive away and couldn't come down. Half an hour later we received another call from Ron's nursing home asking us to come asap. Ron's pastor also called us to arrange to come by and pick up my husband as he knows we rely on public transport as he had also been contacted again by the nursing home. My husband and the pastor made it to Ron and stayed with him for half an hour until he passed on.
Once again thank you for the website. I've learnt a lot even though I haven't posted much. I wish you all the best in the future.

Deepest sympathy to the entire family and all those who are grieving. What a wonderful going home he had, to be in the company of his son and his pastor as he went! We really appreciate you sharing that with us, and we thank you for the time you spent with us. Even if you only lurked, we know that the site was of some benefit to you, and that means a great deal to us.
May God grant you all comfort in these days.
Maybe you would like to post again to tell us of his memorial service.

I am so sorry fo your loss. I understand -my father passed away the 28th of October-this year.
Some days it is really hard. Others I forget and just make the motions I suppose. Take care of yourself and your family
Once again you have my condolences

Thank you for all the kind wishes.
Ron was cremated yesterday and we will be picking up the ashes and having a private family memorial on Monday. Unfortunately as my fiance, his son, lost his job two weeks ago we couldn't pay for a full funeral and church service so it will be very small. Ron died without any money so we are finishing settling his debts as his daughter "borrowed" $30k off him and refuses to pay any back even to give her dad a decent service.
We are having his Pastor friend come and say a few words and then, as per Ron's wishes, sending his ashes to his daughter.
