Title: Girlfriends Husband Passed Away - MRSA
Post by: willieandwinnie on December 05, 2007, 03:02:02 AM
I received phone call at 11 pm last night that my girlfriend CJ's husband David passed away at 11 am yesterday. I'm in shock. He just turned 53 in October. She and I became friends 7 years ago when her husband and Len were in Washington Hospital Center. He had lots of medical issues but had been doing great lately. My heart is aching for CJ right now. Please say a prayer that she can find the strength to continue on. :( :(

We have to go to Washington Hospital Center today (calling for snow), so I'll post tonight when we get home.

That's a shame.  How sad for your friend.   :(  He was much too young at 53.  Any idea how he got MRSA?  If he was in the hospital, I would suspect cross-contamination by hospital staff.

Yes David had been admitted to the Hospital. He had mesh inserted in abdominal wound that they were going to try and remove some of it to finally close his wound. Sadly, that never got to happen. The MRSA showed up so quickly that no matter what antibotics they tried it was too late. MRSA is really a big problem in Anne Arundel County (Annapolis, MD). They closed a bunch of schools and a bunch of medical facilities are having more cases. It's just so sad.

It is odd that this MRSA virus was never heard of a year ago and now it is in all the schools.  I volunteer for kindergarten on Mondays and we sent pamphlets home in their little backpacks last week on MRSA.  I then went home and took a shower with anti-bacterial soap and brushed my teeth with it too.

If one of us got this with a lowered immune system it would be devastating.  Everyone wash your hands as soon as you get home from anywhere!

Sorry that was off topic.

Again sorry about your friend.   :'(
