Title: Respect for Admin/Owner~
Post by: Rerun on June 03, 2006, 06:19:15 PM
All Members,

I have read some pretty sarcastic remarks lately about rules and regulations.  Epoman is the owner and operator of this site that we regularly enjoy and take for granted.  Give the man some respect.  He doesn't ask for much, so at least do what he tells you out of simple courtesy.

He created this site and he can shut it down.  If you don't want to use spell check, or watch your language, or put your gender on your profile, then "don't let your keyboard hit you in the butt on the way out."

I am in absolute full agreement with you. I may tease you all, but I think the rules Epoman has set are important and we need to respect him as the owner of this site.  A little spellcheck is not going to hurt us.  Besides he has said this site will run long after he is gone.  I think what he has set down as rules are fair and will help us all keep this site up to a high quality standard.

I back you 100% Moderators and Owner!

Katherine

rerun,

I see no need for this thread.  I have been reading some of the recent posts and find them to be disturbing too.  However instead of posting a thread to address issues with the FEW not the majority sounds more like circling the troops then acting on a problem or issue.  I see no reason for ANY of us to argue back and forth by posting here, if you want to argue the use the PM system and keep the rest of us that are here to learn and communicate with others out of it.  I know that all of us (those who count the majority) respect epoman for what he has built here I know I do and have let him know.  We are all capable of reading the rules and deciding if we will follow them or not.  If you have issues with someone as an admin, moderator or anyone else they should be handled personally by the PM system.  I realize that the site maybe or is (since I don't know for sure) experiencing growing pains.  This is just a part of becoming a useful web tool and a good thing but along with the good comes the bad.  So I hope we stick to the original idea that I believe epoman started the site for: helping each other thru our tough times and dealing with life on dialysis.  This site has been a valuable tool to me and I hope it remains to be for a long time.  But the recent post that have been argumentative have been handled poorly in my opinion (of course take or leave it as you will).  I think like I said these issues should be handled privately by the adim or moderators using the PM system keeping the rest of us out of it and stopping the back and for arguing from cluttering up the board for the rest of us.  This is just my opinion but I believe it has some merit.  Like I said I have a strong respect for epoman and all the moderators and thank all of you for making this site possible but I wanted to state my opinion on this issue.

Thank you for listening/reading and I hope you take it in the way it is meant: to keep the board free to accomplish what is intended for helping each other.
Geoff

So Noted.   Yes the PM (Personal Message) would work.  Why don't you use it next time.   ;)

My job as a Moderator is to keep people on the right track.  Obviously, some members were getting a little disrespectful.  I could have sent them a PM, but first I wanted to make it public.  Then if they continue, they will get a PM.

It seems to me that making it public has a negative effect on those not involved, now we're going to have a to and fro'ing between members and admin who had nothing to do with the issue in the first place, you have your reasons for going public, but as geoffcamp say's surely PM's are more appropiate in the first instance.

And your comment to him regarding the PM system was I hope tongue in cheek ;)

It is not easy keeping a good board running.  I have witnessed the demise of many after a time.  The rules and regulations are safeguards for all of us.  As was stated before by many of you, Epoman has done a tremendous job in providing a place like this for us.  We just don't want it messed up.  Respect for each other is a high priority for us to keep this going as it should.

I agree with absolutely everything you say, and I've seen boards go down for exactly what has happened here, one ill thought post can do a lot of damage to a boards a moral.
