My country celebrates its independence from being a colony of Mother Britain. It was on November 30th 1966 that we were on our big race track to see the Union Jack come down and the Barbados flag go up. I am so sorry that I missed our parades. I just loved them, and would take my daughter every year until two years when she was actually in the parade - girl scout!
We have an association here - Barbadians and Friends Social Club (BaFSC) and they are having a reception at a hotel. I will be wearing my yellow blouse, blue skirt and black accessories (our colours).
By the way, Queen Elizabeth is still officially our Queen (as with Canada) but they are having referendums some time to see if people want us to stop being a monarchy. I will see if Goofynina can get the chance to replace Queen Elizabeth. I will put in a good word for her.

Happy Anniversary Barbadians. (I hope thats what the citizens from Barbados are called.)

Yes we are Barbadians. Our nickname is Bajans (like Cajuns) - that is where my name comes from.
By the way, an up and coming singer who did very well at the American Music Awards is Barbadian - Rihanna :yahoo;
