I just found this site and I can't wait to learn more about everyone.

Here's my background:

At 26, I found out that I was born with only one kidney.  I had no symptoms until then.  Fast forward 7 years and my kidney function went from about 30% to 10% and creatinine levels from 3.0 to 7.2.  In June, my sister-in-law started the testing process to be a donor for me.  Our surgery was scheduled for September 20th (2007).  Unfortunately, on Sept. 19th, the doctors canceled the surgery.  They felt my SIL's blood pressure was too high and they didn't want to risk her health.

I was starting to feel the affects of a failing kidney so on October 11th I had surgery to have a PD catheter put in.  My doctor made me start the home training for dialysis five days later...ouch!  Fortunately, I have found another donor (my sister's friend) and our surgery is scheduled for November 29th (9 days away!!!!).  I feel very blessed that I will only have to be on dialysis for 5 weeks.  I really hope nothing keeps us from going through with the surgery this time.

Welcome to our community!  We are so glad to have you with us.  You will get to know many of us very shortly!  This site has become a real family and we always have space for more family members.  I am happy to hear of your upcoming transplant, and our caring thoughts and prayers are with you.  Please keep us posted on whatever is happening.  You will find that the people on this site are a very sharing and caring group of people, and we will be with you through whatever you have to go through. :grouphug;

I look forward to hearing all about your upcoming transplant. It's so wonderful that you were able to find another donor! I hope everything stays on track now.

Woo Hoo!! on the transplant date in 8 days. I hope you will share your transplant journey with us. If you have any questions for prior and post op just ask, we have members from both sides.

Great news I hope the transplant goes well and I hope you have many many good years with that new kidney.
