and Dr. Gloor said he approved the surgery! He did tell her that the committee has to meet December 5 but I hope that they all say yes, too. Then, the next step is for scheduling to call them and let them know when the first available time is....likely to be in January. I don't know if my mom will need dialysis until the transplant but if she does, it won't be too long--I hope. Another thing he did say was there is a new med out that treats high antibodies and is used in conjunction with plasmapheresis (I don't know the name of it and I'm sure my mom didn't get the name or doesn't remember, sorry) and she will be getting that with her transplant. Also said she didn't have to wait until her last Hep B shot (she's already had 2 of them) to have her transplant but she will have already had it by January, so that's good. My sister did great and passed with flying colors (she runs 10 miles a day, she should!) and now all we do is wait......again! That's all I know so far....thanks again, everybody!

Jenna had ATV and IVIG along with plasmapheresis, I wonder if it is one of those.
I hope things progress smoothly! Good luck to your mom!

Thanks everybody! I'm not sure what the new medicine is called but from what I gather, it's new and is just now available. I'll find out, though...I tend to like to know all the details just in case I need to talk to a doctor or look it up on Google...

:bandance; Congrats to your Mom!

That is great Beth! They do move things along pretty quickly at Mayo. How exciting that she will be having her transplant soon! :clap;

Thanks again, everybody! We certainly do have a lot to be thankful for and I am so glad Mayo is on the ball! I don't know what I would do without this site and Jill, you and Tamara are such an inspiration to me! Without the two of you sharing your stories, this would be a much scarier process that I it should have been. Tamara for your strength and Jill because you had the same transplant my mom will be having. I don't know what I would have done without ALL of your wisdom and honesty!!! Thank you!!!
