For those of you that have already had transplants, do you wear a medic alert bracelet? Does anyone know of a more aesthetically pleasing/ discreet alternative to the traditional ones? I'm trying to find something that my husband might actually be willing to wear. By the way we are scheduled for transplant on Dec 5.
Thanks in advance!

I think it's a good idea but Jenna doesn't have one yet.

A tattoo, after the Doctor approves it.

Hmm, have you tried doing a web search? There are some really nice ones out there. There are also alerts that attaches to your watch. I've ordered one that is worn around the neck on a chain (actually my Dialysis Unit ordered one for me). My Social worker told me that it was provided free by either the Kidney Foundation or something like that. I can talk to her and get more information on it if you would like. Just PM me if you would like me to get some info for you.

Not sure if it is to his liking, but Medic Alert offers a watch now that can be engraved on the back as in the bracelet. The watch face has the Medic Alert Symbol. Since my transplant, I'm just so use to wearing it, I feel odd leaving home without it on. Don't need some paramedic doing blood bressure on my fistula and graft arm.

I got mine on Ebay for a bargain. It's a heart shaped charm with a lobster clasp that I put on whichever bracelet or watch I am wearing that day.
