just this very moment i got a call from washington hospital center. they had another perfect match kidney to give me. i already got one 6 point match kidney on may 1 07 from hopkins, then i got the first call from whc in the begining of oct, now i just got another call from whc saying they wanted to give me another one. i thought it was nearly impossible to get perfect match kidneys, but i'm not so sure now. that would be the third 6 point match kidney in three months. i am glad to turn this one down so another person has a chance at living. simply amasing.

Gee, I feel left out. :banghead; :rofl;
I didn't get offered a 6 point match, but hey mines working so far so good.

Me too. My tissue typing is so rare, apparently I am not going to match anyone. :-\

Oswald, you are very unusal --something must be very special about you to beable to get three transplants and still be called for another perfect match! You need to buy lottery tickets!! I want to know what magic is in your blood and then I want some of it. What blood type are you? I know you realize how fortunate you are and we are all glad that you have a working kidney :thumbup; Maybe we all need to rub your head for good luck :rofl;
-
I have a perfect 6 of 6 match kidney also. However, I am curious... why are you still getting "the call"? I thought you had a working transplant? Or am I missing a thread?
-
I don't know why I keep getting "the call"...the 2nd call about a kidney that I got I wasn't expecting because I assumed I dropped off the lists automatically...so when they called I explained that I got one at Hopkins and they said congrats...we'll call the next person...so I assumed that at that point they would have pulled me from their list, for sure...so tonight, to my surprise, when they called they actually said they were double-checking to make sure that I still had a working kidney since it was another perfect match...by the grace of God I was happy to tell them that yes...my May 07 kidney is working great!
It's not luck, it's a blessing! ;D
My blood type is A+
You can bet if the time comes to get a new one, I'll make sure I'm on the Washington Hospital Center list again (that is if they ever take me off) ;)
-
Wow, your hospital needs to take you off...
Glad your kidney is still working, as is mine.. and hopefully in 20 years time, we can celebrate the greatness of a perfect match! :beer1;

Well. I didn't want to get too familiar! I would loooove to rub his tummy, but thought the head would be a better first contact place :rofl; :rofl; I have the dreaded O blood type. My luck seems to be the opposite of Oswald's!

I don't want to hear that! I have O(+) blood too!

As soon as Jenna got her transplant we got letters from the other transplant centers officially removing her from the list.
It boggles the mind that they wouldn't do that for you too.
A blood type is a much shorter wait than O, but you do seem especially lucky too!
-
That is so crazy! :bandance;

i'm just glad to turn it down so another person can get off dialysis. stand in line if anyone wants to rub the buddah. >:D

O.K. .. Color me dumb, but is a match for an O+ person harder to get? (I have O+)

O+ have a longer waiting time because we are the universal donor... our blood type is accepted by any other. Therefore, it don't just go to our blood group, it goes to all.'
-
O can only receive O. Other types can receive their type plus O. It gives us fewer opportunities to find a match. But on the bright side, we can donate to another blood type! Of course, this is where the ABO incompatible transplants come in, right Tamara? :thumbup;

Ah, thanks. Yup, that makes sense. I didn't even stop to think of the Universal donor thing. Duh! I need to get my brain in gear. :)

Forget rubbing Oswald for luck, I'm going to steal his phone and pretend to be him!!

:rofl; :rofl; :rofl;
-
Oswald, I saw you posted again. I thought you were offered another kidney. Forget about rubbing you for luck, we need to kidnap you! :rofl; :rofl;
-
Exactly, KT!! How about "call forwarding"? Just forward all his calls to your phone! :2thumbsup;

I am type O positive. I have a friend who is type A. If she is a certain sub-type of A, she will be able to donate a kidney to me even though we are not the same blood type. Has anyone had this operation? An A donor and an O recipient?????
-
i don't know but if they keep trying to give me kidneys, i'll start passing them out. :2thumbsup;
