Title: Software Recommendation
Post by: livecam on November 18, 2007, 06:39:24 AM
If you are a Windows user I wanted to mention a utility that has served me well over the last 18 months or so.  PCTools Registry Mechanic scans the notorious Windows registry, finds, and fixes problems automatically and accurately.  Problems with the Windows registry account for many of the unexplained problems seen on Windows machines like spontaneous reboots, software that has stopped working, or just a slow plodding machine which was once much nicer.  Anyhow the demo is free. If you want to purchase a license to use the software it is good for as many machines as you might have.  BTW: I'm not affiliated with these people in any way, just a satisfied user.  Highly recommended  http://www.pctools.com/registry-mechanic/?ref=google_rm&gclid=COiwo6vO5o8CFRJgWAodxinaDQ

It would take a miracle from God Himself to fix mine but I will try it.  Thanks LC.

Rerun, if you are having problems there are other things you can try as well.  If your computer worked well up until a certain point and then problems developed you can run Windows "System Restore".  It is part of Windows XP and lets you restore the computer to a particular point in time, hopefully before the troubles began.  If  you think that might be the ticket I'd be happy to talk you through it...very easy and it only takes a few minutes.

I tried the first one.  It found 146 errors and only fixed 18.  I have to buy the software before it will fix the rest.  How much is it.  I didn't hit purchase.  ??

I don't think I want to "restore" back in time.  I just want to fix it or take it out and shoot it.

Your computer? I think the latter is in order and will probably give you the most satisfaction.
