Just wondering if any of you have information regarding getting approved for disability as a dialysis patient. Is it difficult, what kind of hoops do you have to jump through? We live in Canada, but it would be interesting to know how it works in other countries as well. Sandra had to quit her job as personal care attendant, due to heavy lifting, and stress, when she was diagnosed with end stage renal failure. Her medical employment insurance runs out in a few days, and she will have to apply for social assistance. She started CAPD 1.5 weeks ago, and has gone through a lot of adjustment. The social worker at the kidney clinic is not very helpful at all. Sandra is not able to work at all right now, but hope to sometimes in the future.

If she has quit her job, she shouldn't have a problem.
Here in the United States, I was disapproved by Social Security because I was still working 3 days a week. I guess if you can work 3 days a week, you are not disabled.
Then I applied through my agency and it is still pending.

In Wisconsin my Doctor says you have to be in kidney failure to collect disability. I just asked last week.

What's your status now? Still working? SSI approved yet? If you work, is it part-time?
