I'm in charge of Thanksgiving dinner this year. I'm just curious what is your favorite holiday dish ? I'm really looking forward to the butterball and homemade pies. I just hope I can eat some of my goodies.

stuffing and gravy along with some dark meat turkey...Boxman

By far my favorite is dressing (that's what we call it in the south). Made from my grandmother and mother's recipe. Delicious!! I make 2 BIG pans at Thanksgiving and at Christmas. Sometimes put oysters in one pan.
Oh Boy!!!
:2thumbsup;

its hard for me to pinpoint what my favorite is, i like it all. from the appetizers to the bird to the pies, i like it all. with no restrictions this year im going all out. put me near the food and watch out. thanksgiving is my favorite time of year.
-
Years ago I won a fresh turkey in a raffle. The taste and texture was so much better than anything I had ever tasted so I continued to buy fresh turkeys. I brine the turkey overnight before roasting and every last bite is moist and tender. I no longer stuff the bird because of the possibility of food poisoning. I make a sausage based dressing and apple/cranberry/walnut dressing as well. My favorite side dish is creamed pearl onions. I am still undecided as to whether I like the turkey dinner or the leftover turkey sandwich best.
-
Definetly turkey, stuffing, and gravy. When I was a kid only the lucky few got any stuffing when I was through.
-
The day after eating a turkey, stuffing, and cranberry sauce sandwich watching football. :bandance;
-
My wife. ;) Actually my favorite is the green bean almondine and the dressing.
-
I love every dish as long as it's cooked by my family... mmmm... I go all out every year as far as eating, but since technically I can do that with approval this year, it's going to all be even so much better. :bow;
-
Mmmmmmmmm, our family recipe stuffing, we have to make 10+ loaves cuz everyone wants to take some home :P (but of course i like everything else too) :bandance;
-
sweet potatoes with mini marshmellows and brown sugar......
-
I'll have a little of everything but I'm having a normal piece of pumpkin pie with 10 binders! I don't have to dialyze this Thanksgiving. Some of you may remember me throwing a fit last year because they didn't reschedule us to have Thanksgiving off.
I made a point to tell the Director "Thank you" for letting us have Thanksgiving off. She said "I only get beat up once."
:oops;

i coundn't imagine dialysing on thanksgiving. thats just so cruel.

turkey, turkey, and more turkey, along with the 7up applesauce jello salad. it just wouldn't be thanksgiving without it.

When I first moved to the south, I was flipping through the tv stations and came across this lady with lots of eye makeup on doing a holiday cooking show. She made a sweet potato souffle that has become a family tradition at our house. Canned sweet potatoes, evaporated milk, eggs, cinnamon, nutmeg mixed well. After it has baked, you add the topping of crushed corn flakes, butter, brown sugar and chopped pecans. You bake it again for a short time. My family now wants me to make double batches so they can take some home!
By the way--the lady with all the eye makeup--you guessed it--Tammy Faye Baker. I had no idea who she was at the time. So now we call the dish "Tammy Faye's Sweet Potato Souffle"
My favorite dish? The leftovers!! Aren't they the best? Friday after Thanksgiving is a great day. Good shopping and no cooking, just wonderful leftovers to enjoy :2thumbsup;
-
Thanksgiving - the real mashed potatoes, with the skins left on and sour cream added when you mash them.
Christmas - oh heck, the whole dinner, which at our house was venison, lobster for those who like it, homemade rolls, the family's favorite salad, mashed potatoes, squash, olives and gram's fridge pickles.
I'm going to miss it this year, that's for sure.
