I went to the emergency room Monday at 5AM. I pushed and pushed for the docs to do aaaalllllllllllllllllllllll kinds of testing on me. Finally they just went ahead and admitted me. Finally they sent an Ear, Nose, Throat specialist in. The problem...... when I would lie down, the permacath would squeeze on one of my veins, causing swelling (massive swelling) in my face and neck. Solution..... either have another surgery to "move over the cath" or sleep in a recliner for 3-5 weeks until my fistula matures.... I picked the latter! I was in the hospital for 3 days, and slept with the bed upright, and no more swelling or other problems!!!!!
YEA!!!! :clap; :clap;

Very glad to hear you found the solution to your problem Donnia :2thumbsup;

:thumbup; Glad to hear they found out the problem

Good For You, Donnia!
So glad you insisted that they
check you out thoroughly, sometimes
the Drs. don't want to admit we know our
own bodies better than them.
Wonderful news, so happy this is over for you.

Persistence pays off. I'm so glad they figured out that you were right about the permacath. :2thumbsup;

Thank you so much! When they admitted me and my GP came to see me, he was all open to ideas. 99.9% of doctors are not open to suggestions, I am glad he was. Actually my ER doctor was great this time too.

So glad you figured things out and are feeling better!! :2thumbsup;

Glad you pushed them and demanded they find out what was wrong, thats how I do it too! Glad you can feel better, and comfortable until the fistula matures! :)

I hope you get plenty more sleep 'sat up'!! Why is it doctors think they ALWAYS know best. I hate it when they wont accept what you tell them , do they think we imagine things or make it up because we like spending time with them ? Im glad you got someone to see it from your point , i hope all is ok now , but if you have any doubts over something else, you stick to your guns again!

Yeah! So glad you got it figured out. I think renal patients know their bodies so well and we need to be heard when we know something isn't right. Glad you doctor listened! :thumbup;

YAY!!!! :clap; Good for you, for pushing the issue!!!! Enjoy the rest, sitting up, til it matures!!! Whew!!

:2thumbsup; WAY TO GO! Sometimes you just have to :boxing; :boxing; :boxing; until they really listen. Glad surgery was not necessary.
Don't worry about sleeping in a recliner. I've been doing it for almost a year due to an inoperable blockage in my femoral artery. It took a few nights to find the comfortable positions, how to punch up my pillow, and how to keep my feet covered, but I now sleep pretty good most nights.

Glad you got it figured out. :clap;
