Because of the problems I've been having with my graft, my vascular surgeon wants to do a revision to hopefully fix these problems. I've now had three fistulagrams and a de-clot since June, and my surgeon says enough is enough. Every time there has been a problem, it has been caused by stenosis in the exact same place, and that indicates there is something seriously wrong in there. I just had it ballooned open last Friday, and I'm already starting to get the early signs of stenosis again. I see the surgeon on the 31st so he can look at it, and determine exactly what he wants to do. I just hope it lasts that long. I won't be surprised if I have to have ANOTHER fistulagram (or two, or three, or ten) before I can have the revision done. I'm just getting a little too used to staring at an OR ceiling with my left arm sticking out to the side. I wish this would be over soon.

The initial symptoms of my graft problems were excessive bleeding during cannulation, needle pulling, and the treatment itself (blood seeping up around the needle hub), high arterial and venous pressures on the machine, and the thrill would sometimes be weak and the bruit would get a "whistling" sound to it. The stenosis (narrowing) causes the blood flow through the graft to be restricted, and that causes the high pressures and heavy bleeding.

I have a graft and so far it is going fairly okay. But I have been having a lot of problems with low BP and my neph said that could harm the graft. I am taking low-dose aspirin which he said should help.
