That has got to be a record. I have to have a 3rd tube put in. The 1st tube was clogged from all the peritonitis I got the first year. This one has the first cuff showing, and I've had 2 infections at the exit site. So, both the neph and the surgeon recommend replacing it. I am not happy. :boxing; :boxing; It's nobody's fault, but I feel so angry and upset right now.
-
I'm sorry about that! I hope you get this fixed soon though! Good luck! :grouphug;
-
im getting my tube removed because of recurrent peritonitis, :( i dont mind pd, but peritomitis hurts like hell
-
Awww, so sorry hun... hopefully this one lasts awhile! :grouphug;
-
MyssAnne, I'm sorry you are going through so much right now. I'm sending positive thoughts your way. Take care.
-
Fluffy, I had the 2nd replacement because of P 3 times in one year. Grrrr... so far, no P, but two infections on the exit site was just two too many for my neph's comfort. Of course he isn't the one going through this procedure....it was easy for HIM to say it had to be replaced!!! :boxing; :boxing;
I called the surgeon, the EARLIEST I can even see him is the 23rd. So it's hurry up and wait.
-
Sorry to hear you have to go through that crap.
Hope it gets better soon. :grouphug;
-
Let's just hope that saying "3rd ones a charm" is true :) ;) Hope all goes well and your feeling well besides all this crap your having to deal with. :cuddle;
-
Third time had better be the charm, I can only hope!!! I called my nurse and BEGGED her to see if she could call the surgeon and get me in earlier. Sure enough, she did!! The 16th!! Hopefully I'll get the surgery that week if not the next. I'm a bit more philosophical about it. I don't like it, but I'll be cooperative. Gotta get done, right?
-
It sucks that you are going through all this. I am sending you happy thoughts and prayers on a speedy surgery and speedy recovery! :cuddle;
-
Good luck, I hope the tube replacement goes well :grouphug;
-
good luck :cuddle; and watch out for that peritonitis
-
I've been so busy reading other posts, I forgot to post on this thread! I go in Thursday (25th) for my 3rd tube replacement. I'm kinda nervous, but more because of the discomfort afterwards than anything else.
-
And I am so sorry I only just saw this thread. Please be assured of my caring thoughts and prayers. We are right there with you. Please let us know how everything is going.
I hope everything just heals quickly and let you get back to normal (???) as soon as possible.
-
Hey. I represent that remark. I am as normal as anyone else on this site. Really. Just don't ask anyone who knows me in real life. I told my kittahs I was having surgery and that I would be home ALL day with them!!! Oooo!!! They were excited. Especially Agatha. She promised she would NOT bounce on my belly this time.
-
i just had my pd catheter removed today.............ow. the surgeon did a good job and the anesthesia techs and the nurses were all super nice, so i got lucky
its just sore now, and the demerol isnt working :D on the bright side no more peritonitis :bandance;
-
Myss, I just now saw this post, I'm so sorry you're having to go through this (AGAIN!!). I hope replacing your cath fixes the problem and the third time is the charm, as Nina said. Sending good thoughts your way for your surgery tomnorrow.
Fluffy, so is that the end of PD for you? I'm so sorry if it is. I dread the thought of possibly having to go to hemo someday. Hope you're feeling better after your surgery, though!
-
Best wishes for your catheter replacement procedure.
-
im in a bunch of pain, but its not so bad, i feel better having the whole thing over andf done with, and yeah looks like no more pd for me. and im not too fond of hemo, but im getting used to it :)
-
oh man, Fluff. Did you discuss that situation elsewhere? As to why you had to switch? Can I ask why?
-
My neph laughs at my motto, i tell her i will go homo before i go back to hemo, lol, but i know i will eventually have to go back, :thumbdown;
-
t.tI tell ya, Nina. two weeks this past January was enough to convince me how lucky i was to be on PD. And now another two weeks of it Oh well. I"m trying to get myself to sleep so I can get myself up tomorrow morning. Not working so far. I DO get to go to my fiancee's though! My nurse called and said she got me an EARLY time for my first hemo this Friday, which means my fiancee can pick me up after he gets off work in Indy!! Yay!!!

:rofl; I love it!

Update. I am typing this lying down in bed. Surprisingly enough, I am not in too much pain. Discomfort, yes. pain, not really. Of course, I am on percocet right now. My surgeon ended up making a new exit site for this tube, then put in a catheter for hemo, of course. THAT's what hurts, the most. It's in my throat, bugs the heck outta me!! I've drinking a jamocha milkshake, with no guilt, I may add!!
-
Awww.. well I am glad your not in too much pain, and your doing ok. :grouphug;
-
Good for you, i am glad you are enjoying your Jamocha Shake girlfriend, (sounds good right about now) ;) The pain will ease up with time, take care and keep it elevated. I am sending good thoughts and prayers your way :2thumbsup;
-
Anne, I'm glad the surgery went well and you're not in too much pain. I know what you mean about the hemo permcath, though. I HATE those things (I know, join the club). Anyway, glad to hear you allowed yourself a treat after a rough day. Take care of yourself and keep us posted on your progress.

Well, we tried the permatcath. It would NOT work. So. I had to go to the hospital again and have another one put in, this time, under local anesthesia. OW. That hurts. Man, as of now, I'm not in pain as much as it's discomfort and a lot of spaciness too. I can't type worth a darn right now. I'm with my fiancee, then he will take me to a friend's house tomorrow so she can take care of me. I did get washed up, got that gunk off me.
-
This is one time I say - take the drugs!! :grouphug;
-
so far I'm okay on tylenol!!! I do have the percocet, but thought I'd save that for traveling, especially tomorrow when Ran takes me back to Muncie. My friends ganged up on me, and have arranged me life for the next week or so. I am not allowed to be alone in my house with my kittahs. Which is just as well, really. Eating doesn't sound good. Drinking does, though. I had some chicken noodle soup, which goes down well.
-
AAARRRRGH!!! I was to have seen the surgeon to be cleared so I could use my pd catheter AND go back to work. Nope. He has emergency surgery and cannot see me til the 15th. I have to continue with hemodialysis AND am NOT allowed to go back to work without that slip. I HATE this. I HATE it. I HATE hemodialysis. I feel horrible, I feel sick, this stupid catheter is so uncomfortable and I cannot get comfortable lying down OR sitting up. I can't eat, I don't want to, I want my life back!!!!
Okay. My temper tantrum is over. :rant;
-
I'm sorry! I know how you feel. I had to reschedule my appointment with my nephro the other day and now they can't see me until mid January! I hope things improve for you soon. :cuddle;

Thinking of you MyssAnne, i hope once you get to using your catheter and are no longer on Hemo that things will get better for you... :2thumbsup;

It's Saturday morning and I haven't gone to sleep yet. I'm so wired and so sore at the same time. I DO get to go back to work,yay! However, I have to continue hemodialysis for another week til my surgeon sees me next week. Bummer.
I had a horrible time tonight. I cramped extensively for over an hour, from my feet to my knees, then my tube started hurting (weird, I know), then my hands. Man, that was miserable. I've cramped before, but NEVER like this. I was crying, and hyperventilating, it hurt so much.
Now I can't sleep. I'm tired, but I just can't go to sleep. I hate this.
-
Sorry to hear you are having so much pain & trouble. I hope you can get some rest :grouphug;

MyssAnne, i have been keeping a bottle of Gatorade by my bed (for them damn cramps that only seem to come when i am in the deepest sleep) >:( But if and when i get them i just take a big swig of Gatorade, give it a minute and it goes away, just a suggestion, hope it helps :thumbup;
-
Nina, only problem....I was at clinic, darn it. I have gatorade by my bed too, swear by it!!! I'm thinking of taking a bottle with me to hemo next week though. man, that hurt. worse than I've ever had it before.

Sorry to hear abour your troubles.. Hope things improve. :cuddle;
