Title: My intro from a k/p tx recipeint
Post by: Chris on October 05, 2007, 08:48:59 AM
Not exactly sure what to write here about myself other than I hated being on dialysis and that I had a kidney and pancreas transplant. I had my transplant in December of 2000 and haven't had any real problems with it, just get sick occasionally that takes a bit to get over. Dialysis really upset my control with diabetes so intially was only aware of the kidney transplant, then found out that there was a pancreas transplant. Killed 2 birds with one stone with that, but did plenty of research before choosing which hospital in my area to go with. Always good to have knowledge beforehand in order to ask the right questions and understand what to expect or what's going on.

Thank You for the welcomes. I am better at answering questions than trying to describe myself. So if anyone has questions, ask away.

Hi Chris, since this is the "introduction" thread, all questions are asked and answered in other threads, so if you have a chance to look through the threads and have something to say about that topic, please, by all means do so, we'd love to hear what you have to say.  Thank you and Welcome again...

:welcomesign;  I too, am planning on getting a kidney/pancreas transplant. I see you are from Illinois. I'm in Dayton, OH and was wondering where you had yours done? I'm still researching hospitals.

I had mine done at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. here are 4 transplant hospitals in the Chicago area. One thing you need to take in consideration is travel time when you get the call and then the follow up visits.
Good Luck,
Chris
