Title: Hello from Miami
Post by: sugarfree1221 on October 05, 2007, 06:38:22 AM
Hi my name is Denise. My friends call me "Sugarfree" because I've been diabetic since I was 7. I am now 29 years old. I've been on hemo dialysis for six months now. I am happily married to the love of my life but we didn't have kids when we had the opportunity. So we have two lovely dogs now. I've had more bad days than good lately. I am currently on donor list for a kidney/pancreas transplant. I give great pep talks, but it seems that I'm the one who needs them more nowadays. My fistula never matured so I'm looking at another operation to bring it closer to the surface. I don't really know how I feel about that. That's me right now.

hey suga suga!,
girl im 29 as well. i been on dialysis since iw as 17 yars old. one thing that i foind thta has helped me alot along the way (as well as my fiath in God and prayer) is exercise. girl youneed to exercise. that will keep you strong ont he days you dont wanna push. and it will keep your body at a steady pace for activeness, i guess thats how i wanna explain it. i go to dance classes and take choreography hip hop, cardio salsa, and yoga. you can swim , or jsut exercise ant home with some video tapes. so youre only 6 month in huh? i just started nxstage last fri. i dialyze myself. i was doin home hemo for awhile. (about 3 3/4 years). i was scared at irst but i find that i take better careof myself than the ppl in the clinic. i never thought i COULDNT do it. it was something else in my life where i thought it had to be done i guess so let me go ahead and sign up for this home hemo thing. stay strong girl!
