Title: " New Rookie from Indiana"
Post by: Stoner Girl on October 04, 2007, 09:36:43 PM
I live in a very small town in Indiana, call Stilesville! I have known about my condition since I was 30 years old. Presently, I am retired from teaching and not looking forward to being "hooked-up" (dialysis), which beats the alternative. Today, I  was informed by my specialist that I will need a fistula, plus he recommended me to look up this web sight. It's nice to know I am not the only person with the same condition!  :-)

Hey StonerGirl,  Welcome to ihatedialysis.com.  Thank your specialist for recommending us to you for us  :2thumbsup;  You will find great support here and even answers to questions you didnt even know you had :P  Have you thought of perhaps going to PD instead of hemo?  Just wondering if you knew all your options.  You take care and keep us posted on how you are doing.  We all have become one big family here so with that being said, "Welcome to the Family" :) :)   We look forward to hearing more from you soon...  :2thumbsup;

The Big question for the day ..... Where is Stilesville?  It's about 25 miles West from Indy.....10 miles from Plainfield..... and 2.5 miles from a small town called Bellville. If you were to look on an Indiana map and try to locate Hwy. #40. Follow the road and you'll eventually will locate Stilesville. Blink and you will miss it. I
believe the closest clinic to me is Danville. About a 10 miles ride.   :waving;

My grandmother will be going to the clinic in Danville when she starts dialysis.

I am a very lucky individual to have Dr. Tim Taber as my specialist. He does NOT beat around the bush, but tells it like it is!!!  But lately, I have been seeing  more of the human side of he personality.  He is full of info and does a great job answering all my questions. Sincerely hope the rest of you are as lucky and I!  :bandance;

Wow, you and I have the same doctor! He is definitely full of info, and doesn't hold anything back. I really like him, but I won't have him much longer, because I'm going to be switching to a different doctor who will prescribe nocturnal home hemodialysis for me. Dr. Taber really wants me to get a transplant, which is a good thing, but I'm just not quite ready to go that route just yet. I think he is one of the most knowledgeable and honest medical professionals I've ever known, and I will miss having him as my doc.
