Just a note to let you all know my time has come...I get my catheter in on Wednesday this week for my PD...the crazy thing is is that I am not scared of that process...I am worried about how my stomach will look and if it will hurt,,,its crazy the things we focus on,,,I guess its easier than thinking of the "bigger picture"..

Emma, i am glad you are not worried about the procedure cuz it was a breeze (for me at least) and you will get used to the whole stomach thing, the feeling of fullness and such. Will you be doing the cycler? If you are on the cycler and you do it while you sleep, you wont feel it as much as you would if you are doing it manually, cuz you wont be carrying the solution inside of you during the day. If you have any questions, please dont hesitate to ask, we'll be more than happy to help you any way we possibly can :2thumbsup;

i found the whole fulness feeling really difficult for the first week, but after that it was a breeze. once you get used to that you'll forget the catheter and the fluid are even there for the most part

Careful, Nina...not all of us are empty during the day. I have to carry 2000 ml all day - it was either that, or do a midday exchange, and my whole reason for going to the cycler was to avoid all daytime exchanges.
Anyway, emma, the way I described the feeling of the fluid to most people was it feels like you've eaten a really huge meal and you can't burb. But that feeling does go away after a few days. Best of luck, let us know how it goes!!

I'm on the cycler, and do one during the day. I would like to move to all done in the evening, but my doctor & nurse are hesitant now to do that. Why, I'm not sure. I carry a lot, and yes, it DOES feel like you've eaten too much!!! It does get better, though!!!!
